WWYD? Recovery company dropped my car

My car was recovered for a mechanical repair. Unfortunately the recovery truck (which was frim a different company) dropped it off their ramps and it has suffered a bit of damage on the front bumper area. It can't be driven like it is.

The mechanical problem is now fixed.
The recovery company were going to send me a courtesy car while they repaired the damage in their bodyshop. They said to let them know as soon as the car was running again.

But now they are saying they won't do anything for a week and a half and that I should go through my insurance if I want anything to happen more quickly.

Is that right? I am working somewhere where I can't make phone calls today. It seems to me that the recovery company should be sorting this out, not me.

DUDE! report it to insurance , the place has already been "arsey" to you how the fuck do you know if there is damage to the structure of the car? how the fuck do you know that they will be honest and fix it all correctly?, how the fuck do you know if they hide stuff they cant be bothered to fix? and you could get it done quicker, rather than waiting till its convenient for them to do

the wise people saying Insurance, be wise, or dont and come back in a month and tell us how major fall damage went undiscovered and unfixed and now the cars a write off and you have to fight the place in small claims court

Ridiculous that you are not involving your own insurance. What on earth is it there for??!!! You are wrong to not do and you could have any kind of mechanical damage. Your insurer will contact theirs and you have someone to stand up for you! They should get you s hire car etc. You have to tell them! This has been done TO your car not by you!!
