Daughter has had the flu for the past few days, bad cough, aching and just generally ill.

I can feel it coming on. My throat is sore and my chest feels tight 😩 but we go on holiday tomorrow! Is there anyway I can stop it getting worse 😂🙈

I swear by honey lemon and ginger drinks. Make usual honey and fresh lemon, grate in a good Chunk of root ginger ( peel first) and leave to steep for 10 mins. Strain it out and drink. I make mine in a cafetière as easily strains out the ginger bits. Fingers crossed for your hol!

Our neighbour claims a thing from boots blackcurrant samuccol? Helps
My cousin uses those Vick's nasal spray things

whatthefoxsaid · 15/11/2018 06:50

As pp said, Sambucol is good and take Zinc. Got rid of an incoming cold 2 days before my wedding!

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/11/2018 07:05

Sambucol extra strength, first defence nasal spray, loads of water, start on the day/night nurse if it's all a bit late. Rest when you can, try to keep your throat soothed. Vicks on the chest and the feet!
Hope it comes to nothing OP Flowers

To me it just sounds like a cheap sambucca. Not something to keep you healthy

Echinacea drops are supposed to help stop symptoms developing or at least lessen the severity.
If you can stand it, eat a Clive of raw garlic. It’s not nice but it might help, and can’t do any harm (apart from giving you very stinky breath)! Grin

PoptartPoptart · 15/11/2018 22:36

A clove of garlic, not a Clive Grin

Stefoscope · 15/11/2018 22:41

I always feel like echinacea helps lessen the symptoms. Supermarkets sell cold and flu tablets containing echinacea or you can buy it as a tea. Stock up on plenty of throat sweets to suck as well.
