Best tips for healthy, easy convenience food?

Really struggling with energy for cooking and washing up at the minute, fatigue and dizziness are kicking my arse a bit.

Need some ideas for easy, tasty and healthy meals - any ideas?

Any tips for particularly nice things to buy (that make life easier) from specific stores? I think I read here that Iceland do handy bags of frozen chopped butternut squash, for example?

I saw the frozen butternut squash in Tesco too.

Frozen chopped mix carrot, onion and celery is in Tesco , Sainsbury and Asda.

Slow cooker. Everything in the slow cooker, "roast" chicken/turkey etc, jacket potatoes/jacket sweet potatoes, Dhal (red lentils, two tins of tomatoes, curry powder, chicken stock straight into slow cooker and mix), chicken curry

All the Frozen veg! Significantly cheaper, no prep (straight in the microwave to cook). Frozen spinach in everything

I think I'm going to embrace having groceries delivered, I can't justify the energy spent shopping at the moment. Silly question, but if you order frozen goods (specially stuff like frozen fish) are there freezers in the delivery truck so that stuff stays frozen?

Yeah it's in freezers in the lorry. I've had food delivered for years now I don't think I'd want to go back to a weekly shop , I have a delivery saver

Stir fry with a bag of veg, sauce, strips of meat as required. Easy healthy and fast.

Scrambled eggs or omelettes with added ready chopped veg (e.g. pepper, spring onion, mushrooms) and wholemeal toast

I love my slow cooker! Haven't used for months though.

Have never done the slow cooker whole chicken thing, how does it turn out?

I find fish fillets quick to cook. I bake them in a medium oven over some chopped veg ( defrosted possibly!) with a little bit of water in the base of the dish.

Thanks guys. Going to look at food delivery this evening. Are Ocado and Morrisons the best, or is it Ocado and Asda? Tesco are a bit crap for this right?

Stir fry is another good 'un, even more so when using veg already prepared, thank you!

I did use the bags of microwave rice for a bit. Worked well.

Like an anemic roast chicken! The skin doesn't brown but the meat is nice and moist

Put a few balls of silver foil in the bottom of the slow cooker, put the chicken in (Not upside down as some recipes suggest) and cook on low 3-4 hours on high depending on your slow cooker and size of chicken. I chop it up, weigh it into 100g portion sizes eat some and stick some in the freezer for sandwiches, wraps etc. Ive also done it with one of those super cheap turkey legs.

Easiest healthy thing is the dhal literally no prep and Double the portion size for the dual and stick some in the freezer for another day. The curry is very similar to the dhal but without lentils (although you could include them). you can add in sweet potato and frozen spinach, by the the time you've added frozen peas and sweet corn to the rice (done in the microwave) you've covered your 5 a day in one meal and only had to prep the sweet potato

Porridge for breakfast in the microwave. Equal amounts porridge oats water and milk and a dash of salt. Microwave for 2 minutes stirring in the middle. Chop up a banana and add a handful of raisins delicious.

I make a big batch of leek lentil and carrot soup which I freeze in lunch sized portions and defrost in the microwave for lunch. Have with crusty bread.

I love dhal! Could eat it for days on end especially when it's cold outside. There's a version I make on the hob, but it sounds like the slow cooker one would be easier so going to try it.

I've used tesco for 5+ years without problem. Also have a tesco credit card so the points stack up incredibly quickly too.

I think they're all similar these days

Yy to microwaving porridge. And an electronic scale with a tare button is definitely your friend. Stick the (microwavable) bowl your eating it on the scale 50g of (the cheapest) porridge to 150g of milk. 2 mins in microwave

Same with rice using the electronic scale. 40-50g per person of rice in large microwavable bowl 100g of water or stock. 80g per person per veg of frozen sweetcorn/peas/green beans in same bowl. Microwave for between 10-15 mins stirring every 3-5
