About 30 years ago I smashed my front teeth. I had a crown put on the one that was completely broken. Two years ago I had it replaced, and also one put on the other front tooth. A few months ago, the replacement crown got wobbly then fell out, the tooth stump and the metal post inside had snapped off.
That's a problem. The rest of the metal post is still firmly cemented into the tooth, which means the dentist can't get it out to replace it. There isn't really enough natural tooth left sticking up to secure the crown. So far my dentist has stuck the crown back on twice; I'm under orders to not bite anything as it could very easily come off again.
He said he could try and drill around the post to get it out but it's fairly likely that my tooth could just break apart.
What options are there if that happens? He mentioned possible surgery to implant a post in my jaw
