Any recommendations?

I have a shark upright, but fancy a small handheld I can whip out quickly to catch small day to day crumbs etc.

Any suggestions? ILs have a Gtech, but doesn't seem too powerful. Is Dyson worth the money? Or should I go for a £15 one from B&Q?

No pets, just a messy toddler!

I have a dyson handheld purple one, it’s brilliant for when toddler makes a mess and has loads of attachments so can do the picture rails etc in the house

Bollocksitshappenedagain · 13/11/2018 18:20

I had a small dyson handheld before and it was great. I have now replaces that and the main hoover with a cordless dyson. The '7' model. Very pleased so far.

Sigh. I really wanted to avoid Dyson as my last pull along was rubbish.

Anyone want to vote for any other brands?

Sorry Op-absolutely loving my new Dyson v10😊

Big fan of my Hoover freedom stick vacuum. Not too pricey and does a great job, came with a bunch of handy attachments. The previous Vax was shite, however, avoid them like the plague!

I have a Hoover too. It was about £100 and is great. Quick wizzes round are just that, cleans the stairs well.

glasshalfsomething · 14/11/2018 18:53

Off to check out Hoover. Any specific model names/no's?

I find the Dyson handheld too heavy for comfort, plus you have to keep the button pressed down.

We've got a little Black & Decker Dustbuster and a Bosch. (I can't remember the Bosch model name.)

The B&D is convenient for mucky cleanups and relatively cheap, but the Bosch is a delight to use. Worth the cost!

BTW, do your research and then keep an eye out for Black Friday discounts.

Bosch Athlet agree much better than Dyson

glasshalfsomething · 14/11/2018 21:32

Thanks @JellySlice. Looking for a handheld mini, not a stick. Does that make sense.

Definitely researching in advance of Black Friday

I loathe the corded dysons but the cordless ones are amazing. Ridiculous amount of money though.

JellySlice · 15/11/2018 07:42

Of course it does.

The Dustbuster lasts us at least 5y, and every time we replace it I look at the fancier alternatives. I've tried many handhelds in holiday lets, and have never found one that really solved the balance between power and comfortable use. That's why we ended up with a relatively cheap Dustbuster plus a more expensive and more powerful stick in the kitchen, and a really powerful (and even more expensive!) proper vacuum cleaner in the understairs cupboard.

glasshalfsomething · 15/11/2018 19:32

So maybe the DustBuster wins. Shall investigate prices. Thanks all
