Sorry for the probably dadt question but i cant figure it out. We're wanting to go from Heathrow to the British war museum and back on the same day. What would be the cheapest way of doing this? Thanks

Use the TFL journey planner. It's great!

Wingbing · 13/11/2018 13:23

And use your contactless debit card if you have one. TFL calculates the cost at the end of your journey.

If you don’t have an Oyster Card that is.

Willofthesimpletons · 13/11/2018 13:23

Or the CityMapper app. Also great!

Piccadilly line to Piccadilly Circus then switch to bakerloo line yo Lambeth North. A few min walk from there. Cheapest way but will take about an hour 15 each way!

IndigoHen · 13/11/2018 13:24

The cheapest way is to take the tube line, and not the train line.

paxillin · 13/11/2018 13:26

Do you mean the Imperial War Museum? It is at Elephant & Castle.

Piccadilly line to Piccadilly Circus, change to south bound Bakerloo line to Elephant & Castle.

Google maps can do London transport journey planning. I find it easier than city mapper.

Svalberg · 13/11/2018 17:22

Word of warning regarding using contactless, no 'double dipping' is allowed, you need a card for each traveller - so if there are 4 of you, you need 4 different contactless cards.

GlasgowWorrier · 13/11/2018 17:37

YY to downloading Citymapper - almost impossible to get lost with it.

DesertIslandPenguin · 13/11/2018 18:05

Remember that children under 11 travel free, just take them along to the larger ticket gates and tap your contactless card to let you & kids through.

DanglyBangly · 13/11/2018 18:45

Do you mean the British Museum or the Imperial War Museum?

Cheapest way to travel: tube
Use a contactless bank card (or if you don't have contactless buy an oyster card - you can put down a £5 deposit and get it back if you give the card back when you leave)
Both contactless and oyster cap your journey price to a certain price depending how many zones you travel in. For example zone 1 and 2 only is capped at £6.80 a day however many journeys you make.
If you have children under 11 you can take 4 for free per adult - just go through the big gate.
If you have children 11 and over they will need their own oyster card. If you buy it from a member of staff tell them it is for a child. They can put a cap on the card that will last up to two weeks, so they get child fares. The child cap for zone 1 and 2 is £3.40 a day.

Before any one says anything I realise heathrow isn't zone 1/2 but I don't know it's pricing off top of my head.
