Hip pain... Grin and bare or seek help?

Approx 5 years ago I had a car accident. Side impact (other car went head on into my passenger side) with enough force to put the passenger door inside the car.

Lots of hip aches and pains at the time and it went away.

Every now and then it flares up. It's a pain, right inside the joint. Feels almost like It's in my bum cheek but hurts when I move my leg so I assume in the socket area.

I have been in pain with it now for approx 24 hours. It kept me awake most of the night last night.

I'm only 31 and coupled with other medical issues I have, it feels debilitating.

So do I just grin and bare it or go and seek help?

Nothing to be gained by grinning and bearing it.

It could be from your back. Self refer to Physio at your local hosp if possible.

Some of the new big gp surgeries have a drop in back clinic (covers hips) I went with my hip and got straight under physio care, I had an xray the same day and was referred for mri which I still have not had because I got pregnant with my dd, I have since been suffering again so will be going back again.

I have soft tissue damage in my pelvis and hip area after a riding accident a number of years ago.

I used to see a chiropractor who was brilliant and I do occasionally visit when I have a flair up, more recently I have seen a sports massage therapist which I would also highly recommend.

I have a desk based job which means muscles in your pelvis/hip area can become really quite tight. My riding instructor has given me a few exercises for hip flexors, piriformis and glute medius which I have been doing every other day after riding, at first they were really quite painful but they have now softened and I think the pain has eased considerably.

Dont grin and bare, there are lots of options out there.

Find a local Dorn Method practitioner. They will gently manipulate your skeleton in case you displaced something. It fixed my incredibly painful hip and my neck that kept cracking.
