Anyone know anything about baby carriers?

Posting here for traffic..

I'm looking at getting a carrier second hand. I don't want to buy new as not having anymore children and not sure how much I'll use it..DD is 5mo.

So I've got the chance of an ergo 360 for £55 (ono), 6 months use with one owner, half hr drive away..

Or, a Boba 4G, one owner but looks very well used. £35, 10 min drive.

WWYD?

Not to be snobbish about it but I like that the Ergo is a well known, expensive brand. I also prefer the colour! However I'm wondering if I should really be paying 15 quid more just for the brand!

I think I'm leaning towards the Boba now as I'm not confident spotting a fake and seems a lot of hassle! Plus the Boba is cheaper and closer lol

You will tend to get more people having heard of the ergo because it's the most well known brand outside of sling circles and it's sold in mainstream shops so you don't have to go and order it specially online. A lot of people will say "oh my ergo was brilliant" when really any soft structured carrier would have been brilliant but they haven't tried it come across any others.

Once you start comparing different SSCs, the ergo, at least the original one doesn't hold up that well. It's quite generic as carriers go, I find the back is low which means it's not great for older babies/toddlers, the straps aren't hugely well supported and the waistband is too wide for me (which is a personal gripe rather than a failing). I don't know if the 360 has the same problems, but I'm not keen on the way they have included a facing out option. It's gimmicky and won't work well for the baby or wearer and reminds me of how they used to market the ergo as being wearable on the hip even though it's a really awkward position for this type of carrier.

The Boba I haven't seen in real life yet but I've had it on my list for years now, the features I like about it are the long back which is suitable for taller kids, it's designed really with older babies and toddlers in mind. I like the footrests and I think the colours are really nicely done. Though I'd be with you being wary of cream! I have got one of Boba's wraps for younger babies and it's gorgeous, I'm really impressed with the quality and workmanship and this is just a simple piece of cloth!

It's s definitely worth comparing them by seeing both in real life.

I had several when DD was little. I had a stretchy that I loved when she was tiny. Tried a Mei-tai but the long straps annoyed me so I sold it on. I loved the look of the ergo but tried it at a sling meet and it was horribly uncomfortable on my shoulders. I agree with pp that there’s a lot of fakes around.

I finally settled on a Tula. Not cheap but oh so comfy! Ended up getting a toddler one too Smile I’d highly recommend them. There’s a second hand Facebook selling site.

I've got the Boba! DD already asleep in it 😁 and it's more khaki than cream, phew!
