Do those robot vacuums actually work?

We're looking for ways to cut down the time we spend on housework, we both work full time and half the week we have our baby granddaughter staying with us.
Does anyone have a robotic vacuum and do they actually work? I'd love to come home from work and have the whole downstairs hoovered but it sounds too good to be true.
We wouldn't want to spend a fortune, probably less than £200 if that's possible so which ones come recommended?
I'm really hoping some of you have good things to say as I think they're worth looking into and could save us time but my husband thinks they're more hassle than they're worth.

Thanks! Smile

We've had a Roomba for a few years. It's amazing. He trundles off round the house as we leave in the morning and is parked up having done his work when we get back. It's shocking how much dust he manages to collect. He maps the floor as he goes around so he knows where to go- he doesn't waste time!

You do still need a vacuum for the bits it can't reach but honestly we hardly hoover any more.

We do have one of the most expensive ones that was available (bought as a bargain unused from someone who received it as a gift and didn't want it). We also have hard floors throughout the entire apartment and he can fit under our sofa etc. So the set up is really optimal for it. Does gather up any forgotten socks though!

Next step is the mopping one!

Think we're going to get one. Will wait to see if there are any offers online in a few weeks.
Thanks so much for all tips, and recommendations Smile

It works, but not as much as the upright vacuums. We have the roomba too, and I think it's good that something can actually do a "quick fix" when the floor gets dirty. Suction game is strong. You might want to check this for Black friday or cyber monday updates. But I gotta tell you it's noisy when it starts cleaning.

I have one and bloody love it. I have a disability and can't do stuff like vacuum.

The house is now fully vacuumed a couple of times a week rather than a monthly. Occasionally I'll need to get the handheld out to pick up odd bits where it goes from the rug to the hard floor, but otherwise I wouldn't be without it. I do need to clear any wires out of the way otherwise it gets caught up but it's a good excuse to have a quick tidy up.

I don't programme mine (I'm to worried about any unexpected animal accidents) but just manually pick a room, close the door and let it do it's thing. We have a mixture of hard floors and carpet.

Another person with the Eufy - and I agree it's great - I'd previously had a much more expensive Roomba, and the Eufy is better - it's lower profile, so it gets under more things, and it seems to deal better with minor obstacles. (although it does also seem to enjoy humping the base of our stand fan, and gets a bit obsessed with cleaning the floor around my legs under my desk)

I've only used it in hard floor houses (occasionally with rugs) and the amount of 'fuzz' it picks up every day is insane. My youngest treats it like a pet.

I find that I treat the house a bit like primary school - when I know I'm going out I put the chairs up on the table, do a quick look around to pick up stray socks/leads/anything it's likely to pick up that it shouldn't then I just let it do its thing and come back home to charge.

Roomba 671 big reduction in price on Amazon just for today.
I bought it yesterday thinking I'd got a bargain as reduced to £330. Luckily checked online this morning and saw it was £100 less today Shock. So cancelled yesterday's order and bought another one.
