Help me...my wedding shoes are giving me backache

Get married very soon and I'm trying to break in my shoes. First time I had them on I kept them on for a few hours although was mostly sitting down. The next day my back was in agony and for a few days later.
I've just put them on again and within 20 mins my lower back is aching.
I love the shoes, I had the dress taken up to a good length with these shoes on so if i now find lower shoes the dress will be too long. No time for alterations now!

I have ordered trainers in case i need to change at night for dancing but if love to wear these shoes for the ceremony and meal etc :(

Any tips?

What style are the shoes?
Are they very different to the height you'd normally wear?
It might be they later your posture, do they make you tilt your pelvis?

Delatron · 11/11/2018 17:56

I’ve started to get this when I wear heels. It’s because the heels tilt your pelvis out of alignment. Have you had any previous issues with your back? Do you wear heels any other times?

Whisky2014 · 11/11/2018 17:58

I used to wear similar height for work but yes my back seemed to get thrown out every so often. I wear lower heels now for work. I just didn't expect this pain to happen so quickly!
Partner told me to walk around and he said I looked straight

Can you do some Pilates type exercises to try and align your pelvis correctly and strengthen your core a little?

Is it a stiletto type heel? Could you buy some block heels of similar type to wear, might help you get used to the height but with more support?

Delatron · 11/11/2018 18:04

Even if you look straight you will be in a different alignment to no heels.

I don’t know what the answer is though. I’ve had to give up heels after the last 2 times I wore them my back went in to spasms for a days afterwards. Though I did put my back out doing yoga in June so I think it was exacerbating the injury. I used to have no problems wearing heels.

When is the wedding?

Whisky2014 · 11/11/2018 18:05

Oh so that's over 3 inches. Yeh prob a my higher than I've worn in a long time. So really, i need new shoes then?

Next week.

So there's are over 3 inches..that's definitely too high. I have also reduced he amount of times I wear heels but i found a pretty comfy style for work. Shame they are black!

I specifically chose chunky heel as thought that would be better for dancing

Can you consciously try tucking your bum under when you have them on to see if that helps. High heels make my bum stuck out (not obviously but I can feel it) so I just wear flats
Maybe some lower back stretches/strengthening exercises would help.

My wedding shoes were off straight after the first dance and I danced the night away barefoot!

Whisky2014 · 11/11/2018 18:10

Is 1 week enough time for these exercises though?

op they are lovely but I promise you no be will see your shoes unless you have a ballerina length dress. How terrible will it be if you get some lower ones - will you be tripping over your dress?

I love those shoes btw but you don't want to spend your wedding day in pain. And there is a lot I standing (vows, photos).

ChocolateTearDrops · 11/11/2018 18:27

Ooh lovely shoes! I would buy them to add to my "get them just out to look at them" collection. Grin

I do think my dress will be a bit too long but it might be ok. I'm just looking at another set... these might be ok

My trainers just arrived and I think they look a little clumsy. Deffo good for a backup if i dont want to wear heels for dancing but i definutely don't want to go barefoot cause we have some ceilidh and my feet will be stepped on!

Re-home the shoes. You don't want to be in pain on your wedding day. Are you sure the dressmaker can't alter the length? It's a pretty simple fix.

SayKnockKnock · 11/11/2018 18:36

The second pair look lovely too.

I definitely don't recommend doing strip the willow bare foot 😁

Wondermoomin · 11/11/2018 18:41

Find some shoes you're comfortable in. My sister in law had an amazing pair of wedding shoes. We found out after the wedding that she didn't wear them, she wore my mother in law's flip flops, they were the closest thing to hand as she was about to walk into her wedding and couldn't walk properly on the tiled floor. The point is, it didn't matter. Nobody thought her dress was the wrong length. Nobody saw her feet. She was comfortable and able to enjoy her wedding.

Whisky2014 · 11/11/2018 18:51

moredoll no I can't it took 2 weeks to alter last time. It's 2 layers and a lot of lace!
I'm gona buy this other pair and have trainers as backup.
My back is just too weak i think
