I think that's what makes a brilliant theme. Not just that it's catchy, but that it's perfect for the programme and represents the era. I think that Pink Panther theme might be the winner in the all-rounder stakes although AYBS is STILL my favourite.

Sorry, I appear to have killed the thread! Posting to bring it back in the hope that others have their own suggestions.

My husband is still convinced that Nicholas Lyndhurst sang the theme tune, despite John Sullivan saying he did it!

Hawaii 5-0 has a great, stirring theme tune from my childhood (70s).The new version from the 2010s series is very faithful to the original.

The Pink Panther wins for me, because not just the theme tune but the music throughout was always brilliant.

AYBS is excellent as well though. Great vocal performance. And Auf Wiedersehen Pet has that thing that's difficult to achieve of being comedic but melancholy at the same time.
