Hamilton tickets: ID checks?

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 10/11/2018 19:11

I really want to buy my daughter Hamilton tickets for Christmas but my DP and I wont know for sure as yet which one of us can accompany her. I have read the paperless ticket advice which says the card and cardholder with ID must be present. Has anyone had experience of the checking system? Any ideas on a way forward here?

I’ve been three times now - the person who buys the tickets must be present (with ID) or you won’t get in. There's absolutely no way around it.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 10/11/2018 19:31

As @talisin states the purchaser has to be there. I witnessed them turning people away in the queue.

Yes - the cardholder must go in with the rest of the party. No exceptions.

Willyoubuymeahouseofgold · 10/11/2018 19:36

Thanks for that . That's really useful to know they are so stringent as I've been to other concerts etc that state this rule but don't necessarily follow up. We'll delay purchase slightly until one of us can commit for sure. Thank you

I went last night (was amazing!) the cardholder definitely has to be there. Witnessed an argument happening last night when we were queuing to collect the tickets as someone was trying to collect tickets but it wasn’t to person who had booked them.

Awesome show! I want to go back and see it again!

Ohhh it's sounds so good! I really hope I'm the one who gets to go along 😁😁😁

I am going next Saturday. Just have email confirmation - booking in my name. Will take I’d and credit card. Is this ok?

AlexanderHamilton · 10/11/2018 21:37

That’s fine Mrs. You’ll probably get another reminder confirmation a couple of days before. I printed mine out (unreliable phone battery) but on your phone will be sufficient.

They do check ID OP.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 10/11/2018 22:06

What ID do they need? I’d like to get tickets for my daughter, but I have no photo ID at all. I literally have my debit card.

AlexanderHamilton · 10/11/2018 22:08

Has to be government issued photo ID so driving licence, passport or I think a PASS proof of age card is also accepted.

PrincessHairyMclary · 10/11/2018 22:10

My ID wasn't checked but the payment card has to be scanned to release the tickets. I wouldn't risk it though. It's brilliant we had the £47 seats in the royal circle, it was high and leg room rubbish if you are taller than 5ft5 ish although being on the aisle gave me more room but the view was really good

IncyWincyGrownUp · 11/11/2018 15:39

She has a passport, I’ll have to lob the money into her account and use her card to buy them. Thanks for the information.

Gimmeesugar · 11/11/2018 15:47

This sounds like going abroad not going to a bloody show

I experienced the same going to a concert recently. I had millions of emails saying I had to bring ID. And a bag no bigger than A4 - which I don’t actually have. I complied with the rules which was really tricky coming straight from work and they completely ignored these rules. People with huge rucksacks etc.

What happened to buying tickets for things and turning up

Talisin · 11/11/2018 16:25

Ticket touts and sites like viagogo happened. The Hamilton rules are a pain but they have stopped touts buying up everything and reselling at sky-high prices.

AlexanderHamilton · 11/11/2018 17:46

Hamilton UK theatregoers are on the whole very grateful that the tickets are available at face value, unlike the extortionate tickets for the Broadway production.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 12/11/2018 17:30

I don’t mind, I just don’t have photo ID. Thankfully my daughter does, so we’ll do it that way. She can’t wait to see it, so it will be good times.

AlexanderHamilton · 12/11/2018 18:42

My reply was to Gimeesugar not aimed at you Incy.

It is a pain for someone like you with no photo ID. I guess most people have either had a passport or driving licence at some point but not everyone.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 12/11/2018 21:20

Ah, no worries.

My passport is ridiculously well expired. I don’t travel well I’m afraid, so decided not to renew!:o

AlexanderHamilton · 12/11/2018 21:59

I’m fairly sure it doesn’t have to be in date but you could check.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 12/11/2018 22:16

I’m nearly forty and the picture is from my teens, they’d be fools to accept it!

It’s quite ok though, as if they’re bought in my daughter’s name she can take a friend with her and I can camp out in a cafe and leave them to their fun. It’s rather neat really. Wink
