recommend me new pots and pans...

We're getting our kitchen redone and have a new induction hob. Many of my current pots are unsuitable. Need to buy a set with preferably one large frying pan and three pots of varying sizes, one big enough to cook pasta in.

Don't want cheap and cheerful but don't want to spend 0000s either - something durable which is going to last 10 years or more of everyday use.

Recommendations?

Steels Pots and Pans of course.

(Apologies if you haven't listened to My Dad Wrote A Porno) 😄

We had Circulon for years and had to buy new ones for our new induction hob. MIL took some of our 5 years old pans and loves them...they never lost any non stick.
Anyway, the new ones are a gorgeous bronze colour and you get a large stock pot, 3 pots with lids, 3 frying pans and a deep pan with a lid. You couldn’t ask for anything better. Mine are two years old and in the dishwasher all the time and still like new.

We've got some Judge ones going strong and they have glass lids which are useful, been using them regularly for 4 years. We also have two John Lewis ones that we've had since 2001. The knob on one of the lids is broken, but not bad going for 17 years. All handles are still firmly attached to the pans too!

Both Judge and JL ones are stainless steel (after a poor purchase of Tefal non-stick ones previously!!). We now also have induction, so it was great that they work on that too.

We have a set of three John Lewis stainless steel pans which we bought in 1993 and they are used most days. Highly recommended.

The Ikea 365 stainless steel pans are good quality and not expensive. I've had some for six years and they still look good as new. I have circulon infinite frying pans and a saute pan that are very good too. They all work well on induction hobs.

I was looking at the Circulon ones. They are a wee bit more expensive than the Tefal and so on but I don't mind spending a bit more if they'll last.

Stellar pans. Buy once, for life. Works out cheaper in the long run.

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 10/11/2018 15:50

Stellar - my parents have had theirs for at least 15 years.

Frying pans are a bit different in that I like non stick so they need replaced more often - I like one you can transfer to the oven.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 10/11/2018 16:56

ProCook. The chef in the house rates them and we have an induction hob.

Literally came on to say Steeles. I'll get me coat.....

Tr1skel1on · 10/11/2018 18:40

Anyone tried the Green pan ceramic coated pans? I need new pans and have seen a lovely set in a local shop. They look amazing & are suitable for all hobs, but I don't know anyone who has actually used them.

fatpatsthong I've heard the new Tri-Oxy-Brillo range is very good Grin

I had a set of Circulon when I first got my induction hob but they take ages to heat up. Better (and so much cheaper!) have been my IKEA 365 pans. They are my go-to pans every time. Had them 7 years so far and they’re indestructible.

anniehm · 10/11/2018 23:29

I have Sainsbury's best quality stock pot for pasta, tefal fry pans, and circulon smaller pans.

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 11/11/2018 19:31

I've been using Judge pans for over twenty years now (had an induction hob for many of those years too). The only reason I replaced them was we had more children and needed bigger pans. Replaced them with the same thing but taller pans we found in a knockdown sale in a department store in Newcastle and gave the old ones away to a friend, I believe she liked them too.

They have a copper encapsulated base so keep the heat in really well so you have to turn the hob down earlier and lower than with some other pans. This also means you save on fuel used and it's better for the environment, it won't make much difference per meal but I guess over the years I have saved a few pennies. (To me it is noticeable the difference in cooking temperature needed with different pans.)

Didn't find a frying pan to match at the time of purchasing but found an M and S one that was similar to the Judge pans. It's actually a saute pan. But I also rather like my two different sized Circulon non stick frying pans.
