Both for my bathroom which I am trying to fix up a little bit.

  1. Black mould in the rubbery stuff between the bath and the wall. Is it even possibly to get rid of this? I have tried dettol and cillit bangs black mould remover with no joy. Any tips??
  1. I have white bathroom units and the doors (which are covered in some kind of plastic coating) are a bit yellow looking. Is there any way to brighten them up a bit?

TIA

Neat bleach on the grout, leave it to soak a bit then use an old toothbrush to scrub it.

Paint the doors?

Yes use bleach on the sealant with a toothbrush or old kids paintbrush. I leave it on overnight.

You could try bleach on the doors too. Just wipe it on with a cloth and leave for a few minutes then wash off. I've heard bio washing powder dissolved in water and wiped on can also be good for brightening up things.

Agree with the bleach for the grouting. Soak rolled up kitchen roll in bleach and then push it against the sealant, preferably overnight. Rinse well.

Upvc door cleaner may work on the bathroom cupboards, or as pp said a washing powder solution wiped over.

Try HG mould spray- it's magic

You could try a mould spray but in my experience once the white silicone has gone black you can’t fix it and it would have to be replaced. Apparently bleach sprays react with the silicone and that’s what turns it black. Can you try using cif cream cleaner on the doors? I have just started using it and it’s amazing what the one with the gritty bits in it can do.

Yes soak rolls of cotton wool with bleach

Put neat bleach on the sealant, cover with kitchen roll (so it's saturated in) and leave overnight. Works much better than mould remover. Although if your sealant is old it might just need replacing. If it's coming away anywhere you should remove it and replace. You can do it yourself. You can buy a silicone remover tool as getting it all out is a massive pain but strangely satisfying.

I just moved into a house that had this and I cut out the old silicone and re silicones it. It’s made a big difference!

Another way to keep the bleach on overnight is by making it into a paste with bicarbonate of soda (get the big box from wilkos or similar). This also keeps it on.

Definitely try bleaching first as re siliconing is a pita
