School Ski Trip, help me convince DH.

DC2 is very excited about a school ski trip in 2020. For a bit of backgrounds, DC1 never showed any interest in going when it was their turn.

So she mentioned it again tonight over Dinner. DH has said we’ll have to discus it as Skiing isn’t an educational trip Hmm

DH’s family are —slightly odd— maybe a little educational focused, DSIL refused the DNS going on non-educational trips and only does educational activities and only buys educational toys.

So how do I convince him it is educational for her to go to a foreign country and ski?

We’re not in debt but while we don’t earn a huge amount, we could afford to send her.

How would you convince him. Both DH and DC2 are out for a couple of hours so I’ve got time to put an argument together Smile

I'm not sure as it actually matters whether it's educational or not does it? Your DD can just go on a jolly if she wants to and you agree, it's not compulsory that she declines Latin verbs as she skis.
OTOH she will learn independence, there will probably be some discussion about health (warming up, staying hydrated, using sunscreen etc) there's the physical aspect of actually learning to ski (a new skill I assume) she will likely have the opportunity to speak a foreign language and will be surrounded by signs, posters etc in a foreign language.
I think that's it for now- you can probably tell Im a huge advocate for cutting the apron strings!

I totally agree with Largepieces. He did bulk at sending her to guide camp this summer until I told him to price up the activities, food and accommodation with a company specialising in activity holidays. She absolutely loved Guide Camp too.

You have made me think of one thing though. She’s studying German so this would be a perfect opportunity to practice the Language would it not Smile

It’s not educational in the academic sense but could you persuade him that it’s educational in the sense that it’s a life skill/experience opportunity?
You could also (loosely) argue that it’s linked to PE which is a curriculum subject Smile
