Reiki

I'm having reiki for the first time next week... I don't know what I expect will happen but I'm intrigued! Does anyone have any experience of how if feels? I'm hoping for "lightness" and to be a bit clearer if that makes sense...

You'll be a bit lighter in the wallet, if that's what's weighing you down...

I feel very relaxed when I have had Reiki, and really like the feel of the heat from the persons hands that is giving the Reiki. (They don't actually touch you, more hover over you)
I prefer it to having a massage.
I know some people feel nothing at all so I suppose it may depend on the person giving it.

I have had reiki and felt much better afterwards. The practitioner didn’t know that I was seeing a cardiologist the following week but she did mention heart issues, which were much better when measured by the cardiologist at my next appointment.

Make of that what you will

Meditation is great for improving help. Reiki is just paying for someone to watch you whilst you do it.

I love my Reiki sessions, so relaxing. Nothing to do with meditation. I lay on a padded table with relaxing music and feel such a gentle glow from the lady's hands. Brilliant.

Some misunderstandings here, you absolutely can be touched during Reiki, and normally you are. I've been having it for some time and my friend who gives it is a Reiki master. She starts at my head and works down by body, laying her hands gently on me. If I was uncomfortable with that she would hover her hands over me.

I do nothing, so nothing to "watch".

I feel 'light' afterwards, and depending on the practitioner and how long the session, I sometimes need to stay still for a while afterwards before standing up.

I took a weekend course with Sandra Straw some years ago, not Reiki but a course for preparing for it, sadly was unable to do the entire Reiki as it takes a long time to complete but it was very interesting and enlightening.

Just popping back to apologise for my comment this afternoon. I was having One Of Those Days in real life but it's no excuse for basically being a dick. Although I personally don't believe in Reiki I hope you get the results you want and am sorry your first reply was so mean spirited. Flowers

Don't worry jinglesplodge that made me laugh! I've been really stressed lately so I'm hoping it will help me unclench a bit... I'm prepared for nothing to happen tho.. I've had things like hypnotherapy in the past and that didn't really work for me... thanks all for sharing I'll let you know what happens 👍

I've had it done a couple of times. First time I ended up bawling my eyes out. I couldn't stop shaking and was completely freaked out. Had it done about 3 in the afternoon and still felt completely freaked out by 9 that night. It actually frightened the practitioner.
Had it done twice again a few years after. Once with the same practitioner and once with someone else. Didn't feel a whole lot happening either of those two times.

Had hypnotherapy before too but the hypnotherapist couldn't put me under.

Let us know how it goes for you.

HouseworkIsASin10 · 09/11/2018 00:35

I had a very relaxing experience.
Friend bawled her eyes out after dreaming about her late father.

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 09/11/2018 01:14

I enjoy reiki and have personal experiences that give me personally evidence that it works

But scientifically it may be bollocks. Tbh homeopathy also has "worked" on me and I know it's total bollocks but it does something in my subconscious mind that's occasionally worth paying for

Fair play to you Jinglespodge for your second post.
Very heartening.
(I hope I don't sound patronising I'm just not great at putting things into words.... Hope you know what I'm getting at)
