Why has no one here told me this before?

There is an entire shop that's like the wtf aisle at Aldi.

We found it this morning at an out of town place where we went to visit Dunhelm. And there it was. B&M. Full of wondrous tat useful items.

OP posts:

wait until summer and these are available again. my best buy from there, the cheapest on market at the time, and after trying others out it's also the most curl up comfiest too!

Why has no one here told me this before?
WhyAmISoCold · 08/11/2018 16:36

"You’ve never seen a B&M before? Where do you live, the South Pole?? shock"

😆😆

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 08/11/2018 16:38

What is this new fresh hell Claus olason about?! I've never heard of it

I love random tat stores!

MrsTommyBanks · 08/11/2018 16:40

I was really coveting those this summer @nameforthethread.
Now you've vouched for them I'm getting myself one next year.

MrsTommyBanks · 08/11/2018 16:41

Fatballs. Not meatballs. Although they probably do those too.

BarbaraofSevillle · 08/11/2018 16:43

Clas Olson is like the love child of Wilko and Ikea.

Witchend · 08/11/2018 16:44

B&M was the outside of grotty when I was growing up. You definitely didn't buy food items or anything you needed to last beyond a short time.

Housewoes998 · 08/11/2018 16:44

I make special plans with my DM to visit B&M at least once a month. I go in with full intention to buy whatever catches my eye and my DH secretly loves what I come home with but enjoys moaning about how I've wasted money on a 'sodding mermaid picture that does nothing' - it was pretty and my DM said it would look lovely in our bedroom (not that I needed encouragement to buy) I bought a couple light shades last time and DP was more impressed that I managed to put them on myself (because I'm a short arse and we have high ceilings so even with a chair it was a stretch!) that he forgot to moan about all the other silly knick knacks I purchased alongside them!
And.. Now I'm off to ring DM to plan another visit...

thomasthecheekyone · 08/11/2018 16:51

Anyone heard of Boyes? Trumps H&M, home bargains and wilkos. Anything you can think of they sell, and it's cheap!

nameforthethread · 08/11/2018 17:39

MrsTommyBanks you won't regret it! you can curl up in them, I also put mine on shorter link so it is slightly higher up, the perfect 'blend knees and plonk hight' Grin

thomasthecheekyone oh yes love Boyes. But no one can ever decide if it's pronounced boys or boysis. For this reason my family renamed it 'The House of Boyairs' Smile

TroysMammy · 08/11/2018 17:44

Do you have a Buyology near you? It's tatfastic too.

Katedotness1963 · 08/11/2018 17:45

Wait! You can buy orange smarties on their own?? Why am I half a world away...Sad

PickAChew · 08/11/2018 17:48

DS1 asserts that the selection of sugary shite in b&m is far superior to home bargains.

PickAChew · 08/11/2018 17:50

Boyes (pronounced) boyses was the source of most of the Christmas presents I bought with my pocket money, back in the 70s.

The only place you can still find haberdashery next to the fishing tackle.

Ploppymoodypants · 08/11/2018 17:55

Oh my goodness I love home bargains so much. It’s a proper treat to look round home bargains child free. I love it so much. Even more so now the Christmas tat is in stock 😁

TheBitterBoy · 08/11/2018 17:55

Love a bit of Home Bargains shopping. Their Wickford scented candles (99p in a glass) are amazing, really scent a room which is v rare for cheapo candles. They do them in a larger Yankee candle style jar too for £2.49. Gingerbread one is my fave. I just stocked up on their Christmas gift bags, also totally bargainous from 29p to 89p, really good quality too.

EmotionallyDestroyed · 08/11/2018 17:56

Yeah our local B&M burned down the other week. Gutted!!!

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 08/11/2018 17:58

Two words-Pound Stretchers. Whole Earth peanut butter for 28p, Mary Berry. Sauces for 75p, hippo organically 9 bloody pence! Yeah, short dated, but all of these had at least three months on them. Weird and wonderful things.

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 08/11/2018 17:59

I went to B&M yesterday to see if they had baubles in the colour I wanted. Yes they did for £4.99. Came out with a 6ft blow up elf, a load of Christmas tat and £75 less in the bank. To be fair though I could’ve spent a lot more! We also have a Home Bargains across the road from B&M where similar things have happened.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 08/11/2018 18:00

Boyeses isn't as good as it used to be.

bookmum08 · 08/11/2018 18:08

There are only about 4 branches of B+M in the whole of London. We sooooo need more. I think there is only one branch of The Range and barely any branches of Home Bargains. There are quite a few Wilkos though.

Flashingbeacon · 08/11/2018 18:13

My favourite Christmas tradition is the day me and DH traipse round B&M, Poundstretcher and Home Bargains. I volunteer to get all the presents for granny’s carers, postman etc. And can happily get all the infil presents for nephews and stockings. Mandatory to pick up a packet of fluffy socks.

Freshprincess · 08/11/2018 18:37

Home Bargains is where it’s happening round here.

I’ve only been in Claus Olsen once, it’s more upmarket than B&M and Home Bargains. I went for a browse and came home with half my body weight in batteries and wet suits for the DCs.
Have also just discovered the aisles of wonder at Lidl, got myself a Heidi Klum Sequin jacket for £7.99 —forgot the milk though—

BrickByBrick · 08/11/2018 22:22

Boyes has its place - however dh went into today to look for a really random light bulb that is in the light in our new house, and they had it. Can get some good things from there though.

Home Bargains is great - I go in there to save my penny over poundland.

PawneeParksDept · 08/11/2018 22:26

As a PSA B & M also still stock Milky Way Crispy Rolls which nowhere else seems to.
