Wrong. There is no need for any physical change to obtain a GRC.

Seriously?! So I can just announce that I'm male and that's it? I thought I was pretty liberal but that's just crackers.

Muddle-aged Grin A new era!

@StorminaBcup Yep, seriously!

Currently, you have to get a doctor's certificate. But under the proposed self-ID legislation, yes. All you would need to do is to claim that you are male.

Avegemitesandwich · 08/11/2018 12:52

At the moment you do need to have 'lived as the opposite sex' (whatever that means) for at least 2 years and there do need to be medical reports etc to back it all up in order to get a GRC. However I don't think you need to have actually had any surgery.

If the law changes as is planned though, it will literally be a form to fill out and ta da, you will legally be the opposite sex. Meaning, if you are a man, you will have access to the legal rights and protections of women. Great huh?!

See, not so different from changing your date of birth is it?! :)

No surgery necessary. All you need is the right feelz.
