Where to donate baby clothes?

I have a newborn (well, a nearly three month old now) and have lots of perfectly good newborn and 0-3 clothes that she's growing out of. Does anyone know of any charities in England/Wales that take them to help struggling parents?

The last ditch is to send them to the charity shop but I've got no experience in contacting charities. Do Women's Aid/Barnardos etc take (washes) donations? Does anyone know of anyone in need personally that I can send them to? I'm planning on ringing around tomorrow and I thought the collective wisdom of Mumsnet may have a few ideas.

They range from basics like vests and babygros to full outfits and some things with the tags still on and unworn.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if this isn't the right topic, HQ!

The charity Stripey Stork does this - they’re based in Surrey but have a page on their website detailing other organisations around the country which do similar:

I asked my health visitor about this, and she referred me to a local baby bank that works closely with health visitors and midwives to identify families with babies that are struggling. Definitely worth a try if there is nothing in your area on June's link!

Also in London the Fara charity shops specialise in children's clothes!

I presume you're not planning to have any more children? If you might, save the clothes for now for that eventuality.

wineandwhine · 08/11/2018 11:40

No more children. This is our third and final child seven years after our last so we're very sure.

I'm in wales so nowhere near London however I can post them happily so I'll give them a call.

Your local refuge would welcome them and will come and collect

Cwtch baby bank are a little charity based in Taffs Well, just off the Merthyr turn off on the M4. I took most of my dd’s clothes there. They have a Facebook page.

Ask your health visitor/google if there is a baby bank in your area, I’ve found that charity shops only tend to take “outfit” items rather than the sleepsuits and vests that most wee babies are wearing. The donations to the baby bank go straight to the people who need them too.

I donated all of mine to the neonatal unit as I had her unexpectedly 3 weeks early and nothing fitted her so the midwives gave me some stuff from neonatal until my family done an emergency clothes shop. They were tiny baby clothes but I'm sure the bigger sizes would come in handy as well for families who are stuck in there away from home.

None of our local charity shops take baby clothes but have found a clothing bank that does so will be taking mine there. I think they go to charities in other countries.
