Reusable Sanitary Products

Can anyone personally recommend tried and tested reusable sanitary pads? I'm looking for something panty-liner sized/absorbency and something for light to med flow. There seem to be a multitude on Amazon but many have reviews saying they tend to slip or are too wide for the gusset. I really want to stop contributing to landfill but need something comfortable enough for mid cycle wear if needed. TIA.

Oh I meant to say, I got mine from femininewear, & bought a little wet bag to put any used ones in if I'm out & about. I got a bigger bag to store the clean ones in - 12 pads will just fit comfortably in the medium sized wet bag. (3 night, 3 mini, & 6 regular).

I won't recommend a brand because I'm buying local in Australia but the ones I have that don't slip have a layer of fleece on the bottom. That seems to make them stick to the cotton of my knickers and they stay put really well.

My favourites have flannelette on top, very cosy Smile

Ours have been so reusable I don't think they even make them anymore. I also give them a rinse out when I shower and they dry in bathroom, the end of period throw them all in a hot wash.
I really don't understand why you buy these to save the planet then put them in the tumble dryer though, they dry very easy on a rad

Thanks everyone. I've looked at all the links and settled on some ImseVimse pads. I'll report back on how I get on.

Modibodi - most absorbent in my opinion.

Linky? OP

How young would you use a mooncup?
Anyone?

PinguDance · 18/11/2018 18:46

I got a ‘starter set’ from honour your flow which has been good- been using them a few months and even the white one (I know) is washing clean. I just bung them in with a normal load but you get a little bag you can store them in til you stick them in the wash. When out and about there’s a little fleece bag to put used ones in. I really like them! I do tend to rinse mine once after I’ve used it though - when I’m at home- that probably helps with keeping them stain free. Helps if you’re not squeamish about period blood but I was using a moon cup for a while so got used to it!

Can you link pingu ? You used mooncup too. What do you think should be lowest age limit, or n oot?

I think I will replace my liners with these. A bit of an expense as I only buy the lidl 40p ones but I am trying to tread more lightly on the planet. The ones without waterproof lining make me a bit nervous though.

doublethink · 18/11/2018 19:16

I also bought the starter pack from Honour Your Flow and really like them. I just wish I'd bought the wool backed ones rather than fleece due to the microfibres Sad. I used to use moon cups but now prefer the pads. Don't find washing an issue at all.

Switcherpoo · 18/11/2018 19:18

I use these ones from Amazon.

9pcs Menstrual Panty Pads, YIGO... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B06ZYG8CNC?ref=yopoppmaswf

Yes they slip a bit. The wings have 1 popper on, so will not feel as secure as a sticky backed single use one. Once you get the hang of pulling your knickers up without it moving, you'll be fine.

They never leak and are really great. I use them with a moon cup as otherwise I flood and stain through clothes. Together they are perfect for me and I feel more in control of it than ever before. Will never go back!

The bamboo cheeky wipes are great for medium-heavy days. I use the cotton liners for light days.
Washable pads are so much more comfortable than disposable. I’ve never had any problem with them slipping. And I just shove them in the wet bag provided and chuck them on a rinse and then in with everything else at 40.

Shriek · 18/11/2018 23:04

Yes a rinse when used and then in a wash cycle at end of cycle!

I'm trying to find fleece liners. Existing ones have been amazing, they don't budge at all, even overnight and are super soft, and extremely long-lasting.
