(Am so close to Fluffycloudland77’s post I think I’m probably more Rowed Over than Bumped, but...)
Have of course voted for CHAT & am genuinely shocked they somehow let an organisation that’s not a charity enter. Just... surely if you’re running a competition for charities to win money you get their charity number as part of the process. You know, to ensure their legitimacy?
My Brownie Unit sponsor the very dashing CHAT-cat Mr Brown - you can’t really see it in this picture, but his facial markings give him a slight look of the WWI fighter ace... when they were choosing which cat to sponsor they picked him in part because the blurb about him mentioned he has a neurological condition & they were worried other people might not pick him “because not everyone is understanding about disabilities; & we don’t want him to think that he’s not as good as the other cats”. (They were also a bit worried about whether the other cats would be friends with him, but we reassured them that cats are MUCH cleverer than humans & he has lots of friends despite having a disability.)
We also collect used stamps for CHAT & have done a few donations of food/toys/bedding/treats to our local branch. The Brownies are quite proud of “our” cat (I've overheard some showing-off to the Cubs on the matter) & get excited about his letters. Two of our oldest Brownies did a collection of items for our local branch for their Charities badge at our National Cat Day meeting at the start of the month. (Of all the festivals & celebrations happening this term, the Brownies were keenest to celebrate this. Even after we told them that no, we wouldn’t invite some local cats to join us for the evening...)
Had I not adopted my two cats as 8-week-old kittens they’d have had to go to CHAT. Where potentially I’d have then adopted them, as I’d been planning to adopt from CHAT before my moglets basically dropped into my lap (from a local loft - undersized & weaned onto adult food; having had barely any human contact; & confused by the concept of anything beyond that loft). CHAT so deserve the money - the difference that £100,000 could make to them is... incredible.
