I just can’t work it out and I want to scream.

A student gets 48/75 in an exam. There are two exams in the course - the two sets of marks will aggregate (and the student only needs a 50% aggregated percentage to pass).

This first exam counts for 40% of the total aggregation though.

The second exam counts for 60%.

.....

And here’s where I get completely stuck 😭 what should I be able to work out from all that 😭

Ideally the student wants a 70% aggregated score, what marks will be required in this second exam to facilitate this?

I’ve decided I’m just thick.

The 48/75 gives them 40% 48/75 = 25.6% of the 70% they want. So to get 70% in total, they need to get 44.4%/60%=74% in the second exam. If the second exam is also out of 75, then they need to get 74%75=55.5 marks in the second test.

First exam score is 48/75, which is 64%.
64% of 40 is 25.6.

So, to get an aggregated score of 50% to pass, you'd need to get a second exam score of 41%.
To get an aggregated score of 70%, you'd need to get a second exam score of 74%.

Haha, sorry, took so long to work it out, you'd already received the answer Grin
