Can anyone recommend a good, meaty drama series that isn't about spies/espionage?

Looking for something new to binge-watch with dh. Don't fancy Killing Eve or Little Drummer Girl. We loved things like Marchlands, Lightfields, Broadhurch, The Secret of Crickley Hall.

Any recommendations?

Unforgotten is brilliant. First two series on Netflix.

I like Press too.

I've just finished watching Informer but given its subject matter its off your list (brilliant though)

Id second Line of Duty as well

Top of the Lake is great (Elisabeth Moss can do no wrong in my eyes!).

I know you said you'd prefer British, but The Leftovers (US) was utterly addictive - such a strange show but I loved it.

Couldn't get into Killing Eve either.

I've been watching Unforgotten ( love it!) and DCI Banks.

The Cry, v recent on IPlayer.
The Sinner, Netflix.
Trust, IPlayer and hardly anyone I know watched it, but I loved it.

This Is Us is a great watch. Tissues needed for every episode though Sad

Your OP has just reminded me how much I love those 'ghost' mystery-type dramas. Loved marchlands and the others you mentioned.

Also the BBC one from a few years back, starred Michael Palin and had something to do with Scarborough Fayre.. sorry can't think of name but that was fantastic.
