Washable cloth sanitary pads

Wasn't sure which section to post this in, so plumped for chat.

Inspired by a thread discussing shortage of sanitary towels in supermarkets thought I'd look in to buying some re-usable pads. I've heard they're absorbent, comfortable and obviously better for the environment.

I doubt I could use a mooncup due to a very tilted cervix, I find tampons hard to fit comfortably.

Does anybody have any recommendations of which to get? Also, what do you do with them if you need to change whilst out and about, do they have a special storage bag Confused I thought they might be good for Dd1, but she might be a bit funny about carrying used towels around all day.

I've seen a website called cheekywipes, anybody have any experience with them?

I've tried several types. Started out with Honour your flow a starter pack (10% discount if you quote mumsnet) really liked them but very heavy periods meant I needed many more pads. Tried several cheap and not so cheap, none of them as good as HYF.

They have the ability to fold over and popper close after use, come with a travel pouch. Wash well. Fit well (come not only in different types, from panty liner/light to very heavy but also in different sizes as in dress size).

Can't recommend them enough.

I use Cheeky Wipes and they are great, never move around and really comfy

I didn't get on with cheeky wipes or honour your flow pads. If you have FB there are some fab groups on there. TCS Eco does pads, I LOVE hers. Red Rag Queen also very good. Rubys place.

All have ready to ship or you can custom. FB groups also sell preloved which is spot on if you want to try different styles/lengths/fits without spending too much upfront

I love them i only have cheap ones off amazon. They are comfier and i dont get itching stinging or thrush after using like i did with disposables. Its awesome that i always have them in the house unlike when i used to run out and make late night dashes to shop. Also storage bags and they dont smell like disposables.

There’s an awesome MNer who sells these, along with make up removal pads and other stitchy goodness. Check out her FB page Kraken Kreations and support your MNers in business Smile

I might try some cheap ones for my lighter days. I'm not sure I'd be confident enough to try them on heavy days, but I find regular pads really irritating, particularly on lighter days.

ThatOneHurt · 12/11/2018 22:30

I love them.
BUT
I bought some cheaper ones and they were fleece, presumably man-made fibres and they gave me horrific BV, twice.

I changed to more expensive ones I think they were charcoal somethingorother and they were great.

Both were form Amazon and both had great reviews but if even one person learns from my mistake then it's worth me posting a warning!

@CherLooksYoungerThanMe the really big honour your flow pads are excellent for heavy days. I've had horrendously heavy periods since dc2, I couldn't leave the house wearing a disposable as one "gush" (sorry......) And it would be sodden and leaking. The big pads look massive but feel very comforting and secure to wear.

DoctorNicoleWatterson · 13/11/2018 10:02

Would any of you who buy off amazon be able to link the ones you have? There are so many to chose from and it would seem I'm incapable of making a decision.

Going to order one of those bags, thanks for link bluechameleon

Earthwise girls have a good range and I find them really comfortable. I’d much rather spend my money with a small company than let amazon take a cut of the profits.

Redgreencoverplant · 13/11/2018 12:41

I use Minivivi, Imse Vimse, Earthwise and Bloom and Nora and I would say go for Minivivi. So comfy, so absorbent and don't move around :)

Just coming back to say I've tried the pads I bought off of eBay and they have been great. I bought another pack of six plus wet bag, so I now have 12. These.
