How much do you think you will need to live on, monthly, when you retire?
I live in a poorer part of Europe, and, as my mortgage will be paid off and I have no debts, and if DC have finished studying, I think I could be comfortable on 1800 euros take home per month. It's rather unlikely I will have that amount (this isn't the best place to plan financially), but something to aim for.
What about you?

If I work on today's prices and assume no mortgage by then, then I think I could manage not very comfortably on £500 pcm and comfortably on £1000pcm. Inflation adjusting both that and my expected pension returns is where my excel spreadsheets get complicated :p

I don’t want a significantly different lifestyle when we retire - except the long working hours, perhaps. I think we’ll be do non executive director posts for a few years in early retirement or possibly consultancy. That will boost income and reduce need to tap into our capital. I would want a retirement income of at least half current salaries although I accept we could survive on less. I don’t want to just survive though.

Hmm I think I'd want around 2k a mth... I want to be able to travel etc. Think I should hit that if (IF) the state pension is roughly where it's at not when i retire. My husband s pension is not quite as good as mine I don't think but should be around 1500 a nth is the state pension is roughly where it's at now.
I get a decent lumpsum on retirement as well..should be around 80k which will be Great and hopefully help the kids with house deposit...

I'm in poorish Europe, and would like to spend my retirement between here and the UK. 1500 euros would be good here, but wouldn't stretch far in the UK. Would like to stay on after retirement doing some consultancy work, but suspect I may be forcibly retired as I'm a civil servant.

DH has just retired early (ill health). He took minimum pension, max lump sum. Min pension is just over half his old take home. Lump sum is being invested in two blocks in different products (we have a financial consultant). One block will give an extra £ per month in interest. This plus my salary has had no impact on standard of living, only on slush fund savings. This is more than offset by what the lump sum will do for us in 5-10 years.

I won't be able to retire until I get a state pension (probably be 70+ by that time.) I might not even live that long so I'm certainly not planning on going travelling or anything when I retire, I'd rather do that now while I'm young.

Presuming I've paid off mortgage then I could easily live a simple lifestyle on less than £1k a month.

I rent so would need to cover rent plus bills plus everything else. If I stay in the area I live in now (and have been in for 20+ years, ie ideally wouldn't start afresh in a place I know noone) I would need in excess of 2.5k a month. Retirement is not in my future unfortunately!
