Where have you bought great furniture?

We have recently moved into a new place and are in need of: a coffee table, a side table for a lamp and ideally a few drawers underneath, a big bookcase and something else to fill some space in the bedroom (maybe a long but low table with some drawers?)

I've looked online - Wayfair, Ikea, Made, John Lewis and lots of other well-known furniture shops/websites, and I've found a lot of it so expensive and quite same-y. What I'd love is to find some great antiques but I haven't got a clue where to look to get a good deal/good quality.

We are based in London. Does anyone know any good antique shops or websites I could try? Or not necessary even antique but shops that make more interesting bits of furniture rather than Ikea style. I'd be very happy to buy something second hand if it would cut costs.

Thank you! Smile

We’ve had some lovely furniture from myakka, ordered on line really sturdy and long lasting, the wood is beautiful. Ordering/delivery always been great too.

Definitely charity shops. Facebook selling groups. I'm in the market for an old fashioned dressing table. I had my grans old one and it had huge drawers and lots of little compartments.

Oh dear lord, why have I never seen Vinterior before? Thank you Sinkgirl.

I don't think my bank balance will thank you though, I have just bought my perfect set of dining chairs...

Vinterior sell on eBay too. The distressed blue French style shutters in the background are the giveaway.

Hello! I am one of the ambassadors at Interior which focuses on vintage and antique pieces with character. Feel free to drop me a line at [email protected] and I will help you with the sourcing requirements. Moreover, you are based in London which is perfect as most of our sellers are based around here as well.

Thank you!

Vinterior contains listings from lots of different sellers from what I can tell.

There is amazing stuff on there, I love it, but unfortunately I always fall in love with the highly expensive stuff 😂

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 06/11/2018 23:21

Me too SinkGirl Sad Bloody expensive taste!

Lots Road auction house in Chelsea! You can see stuff online, or all week in the show room, and auctions are on Sundays. Between me and my parents we've furnished three houses and a hotel from there.

Good experiences with Swoon - pieces (tables/cabinets/shelving) are as shown online and well-made. Sofas are personal preference so I only buy after trying... Habitat has a variety of styles and sizes, and most of the sofas there are supportive. For a smaller home with a minimal slant, I recommend Muji, where everything has its own place; the neatness makes small-space living practicable.

Yy to lots road ! Got some lovely stuff from there at a fraction of what I could have paid , even if I could have found it elsewhere .
