Anyone else got a 'quirky' 12yr old (Christmas list)

Asked the kids to write their lists and my 12yr old son wrote:

A cactus blanket
A cactus bedding set
A giant teddy bear
A pineapple
A laser pen

That's it Grin

He's always been a funny kid. I think it's adorable really, how completely random and ungrabby he is.

My eldest, when 12, requested 10 hedgehog related items. That was it.

Turned out not to be too bad an ask..... Then he repeated it for the next 5 years Grin who knew there were so many hedgehog consumables out there?

My almost 11yo dd has a list as long as your arm and two of the many completely random wants are... hand sanitizer Hmm and chewing gum

My 12 year old would be very happy with that list tbh. This year he wants a cold process soap making kit, essential oils for soap making, a candle making set and assorted books.

My DS when he was about 3 went through the Argos catalogue and put a ring round the things he would like, so pretty much ALL the toys, a week later my DP (now DH) was looking through the catalogue and was like  called DS, asked if he had put a ring round an item by mistake, no he hadn't, he wanted a real chain saw  (cos I got voom voom) because when he asked for a toy hoover we got him a real one (as it was cheaper than the toy hoover he wanted) So our fault then?!

I want to write a Christmas list.

My DS (12) if asked to write a list would say: Blu tack, reeses, a new penknife. Book tokens. He'd probably be happy with just lots of blu tack tbh.

Clicked on this thread for no reason, as I no longer have any 12 y/olds in my life, but I love some of these lists! For those interested in books about transit, this book - not exactly the same but satisfyingly obscure - is supposed to be surprisingly fascinating! Heard them talk about it on a book review programme.^^ Probably not for 12 year olds though!

Can't get a link to work but it's on Amazon.

Ha ha, DD once went absolutely mental at my geeky DH because he bought me a book called A History of Tractors in the Ukraine for Christmas. We had to proper talk her down and explain it to her.Grin

We've had blue tac on the Christmas list too. Also had requests for gemstones, real talking parrot and every year DD wants a soft toy. Preferably giant soft toys.

God dam can I swap a kid with you guys. My dss wants a ps4 pro he has perfectly fine ps4. A 4k tv a laptop another bike he doesn't use his one from his birthday last year TWO pairs of nike air max thays just to name a few Confused

DS has had a few 'interesting' ones in the past so gardening gloves, tools...the soil testing kit was a pretty cool one. I draw the line at gift wrapping compost - even if it is a speciality compost - although I have been known to stick decorations on the packaging. He's requested a new propagator this year!

DD has been asking for a toy tarantula since she was 4, it's NOT happening and she knows it (she only asks because she knows I hate spiders).

Now I feel I'm missing out as I don't have Transit Maps of the World. Will google.

Asda have a range of cactus crockery and maybe bedding as well.

BagelGoesWalking - he really is! We've been really lucky with him, some children with his kind of past trauma seriously go off the rails.

(I may be just a bit biased Blush he's not perfect, but he's perfectly him)
