Look up hypothyroidism.....do you have any other thyroid symptoms? Might be worth seeing GP if you do.

redsummershoes · 04/11/2018 20:12

yes.
fluffy socks & leg warmers help.
as does wearing a gilet

Gohackyourself · 04/11/2018 21:11

Yes rainbows - atm it’s borderline .
Will get some fluffy socks and leg warmers are very good idea !! Why didn’t I think of those ?!?

I have the joy of Raynauds. Things that keep your wrists and ankles warm can help, bit eighties though!

CMOTDibbler · 04/11/2018 21:34

Never let them get cold (slippers on as soon as out of bed, gloves on before you go out) and keep your wrists and legs warm. I wear wrist warmers all winter and they really help without getting in the way, so they stay on all day.
I have heat holders slipper socks, and their convertible mitten/gloves which are lovely. When its really cold I layer silk gloves and down mittens, plus angora socks and thermal boots

Don't get cold! Thick soled slippers e.g. fleece lined crocs
Scarf
Fingerless gloves
Jumper and fleece gilet
Hat

Gohackyourself · 04/11/2018 21:43

Thank you- some good tips

These are the biz. Should have discovered them 25 yrs ago. Gloves & hat indoors, too. I haven't found a way to keep feet/hands warm while cycling 1 hrs in winter, though, boohoo.

You can also get heat insulating insoles for shoes. Haven't tried them yet.

Sheepland slippers. Total godsend. Kind of like indoor uggs. This is year 2. They are a bit battered but still going strong. Hands in armpits (tmi) to warm up if I let them get cold.

Gohackyourself · 05/11/2018 06:26

I’ve got ugg slippers which are lovely sheepskin inside.
I work outdoors so it’s hard to stay warm but I definitely need to tackle it as last winter I froze.more than the past 12 I been outside:-( I have to have hands free too so wrist warmers good, as are leg warmers.
I was thinking about an electric throw too to put over me once home.
Going to look at some ski/sports style pants too instead of m&s long johns.

I have raynauds as well. I moved to the middle east a few months ago, so hopefully that solves the problem!

Gohackyourself · 05/11/2018 08:35

If a move few thousand miles doesn’t solve there’s no hope for rest of us Grin

How about merino wool base layers for runners? I've seen a thread about gloves for working outdoors called, I think, sealskinz, I'll check. And the outdoor clothing shops also tend to sell amazing looking boots for trudging through snow.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/11/2018 09:45

Lovely house boots from Celtic Sheepskin. Similar to Uggs, a lighter sole but you can wear them outside. Also machine washable on a wool wash with a wool detergent.
I absolutely love mine, live in them indoors in winter.
Got my first pair by telling dh what I wanted for Christmas, and leaving the printout on his desk with exact size and style circled.

Gohackyourself · 05/11/2018 14:59

@pickingdaisies I’ve looked up sealskinz on amazon and will get some !
And gonna go to uniqlo on Thursday , looks like their a winter store

Good luck, I'm off to investigate Celtic Sheepskin boots. I may copy @Gettinglikemymother's brilliant strategy for acquiring a pair too!

Rainbowsandrascals · 05/11/2018 20:02

I struggle with really cold feet and it can wake me up in the night! I’ve found using fleece blankets on the bed instead of sheets really helps with this.

Ta1kinpeece · 05/11/2018 20:32

Another Raynauds person here ....
In the house I wear a big ultra warm fleece that sleeves that come down over my palms.
ALWAYS wear gloves while out / driving
wear warm socks (I like my bamboo ones) and warm slippers

Gohackyourself · 05/11/2018 21:39

I’ve worn two pairs of socks today and feet were not cold!!

Look at the website of the Raynauds & Scleroderma Society. They sell lots of good products like gloves with silver in them which I wear under normal gloves.
