If you know your tax code and annual salary, use salary calculator. It’ll give a good estimate

tissuesosoft · 03/11/2018 10:11

The tax code used by the majority is 1185L.

kittenfun · 03/11/2018 10:21

My tax code is currently -
1156L

I currently work 15 hours do not enough to get taxed looking at increasing my hours so I do an extra 8 hours then assuming I would get taxed on new 8 hour contract

Salary calculator shows no tax on 23 hours. But that is an estimate

Based on your tax code it’s £11,550 before tax

HellenaHandbasket · 03/11/2018 10:27

Listen to the taxman is a good calculator

LostInShoebiz · 03/11/2018 10:32

Use an online calculator. A quick Google search is your friend.

Plexie · 03/11/2018 10:33

20% tax on earnings over your personal tax threshold. And don't forget National Insurance Contributions. I recently looked that up and it is 12% on earnings above £162 per week.

Kemer2018 · 03/11/2018 10:42

You won't get taxed separately on the extra hours.
You'll work 23 hours at 9.20 per hour.
211.60 per week
X by 52
11003.20 per year (before ni conts)
Std tax free allowance atm is 11850.
So you won't be taxed.
This assumes your extra hours are paid at the same hourly rate, and not a much higher rate.

I find listen to taxman good and v accurate. You need to put whole amount in though not just the additional hours.
