Update from me,
A&E dr asked crisis to assess me in a&e, however, cos I hadn't actually taken any, I was considered by a different team (my local one) to him over the phone to be "safe" and that their plan was to get my cpn to contact me on Monday to hopefully see me this week and arrange an assessment with psych within a month
He was gobsmacked and also at the procedure that carers had to ring ambulance to go to a&e when I hadn't taken anything and had been told would be assessed that day by crisis so that was the assessment.
He sorted out a plan, via carers manager, local chemist to leave carers with minimal meds this weekend just enough to cover 1st dose Monday morning and sent me home.
Telling me he fully understood if they ended up treating me after an attempt in the next few days and if possible he would take my case again as he had met me already.
He told me the system was madness and I explained that the first thing the crisis team said to me on the phone was it was a long time since I contacted them, I wonder why?
They let me down badly that time too, that time I finally woke up after several days in ICU, they said once I was medically stabilised I was ok to go home alone.
My SW who is also MH trained but working on a different team, persuaded someone (not 100% sure who as crisis is the gateway) to take me into hospital as I wasn't safe physically, mentally to go home alone and care package had broken down at that time due to the agency not being able to cope with the attempt.
That time I spent 3 weeks in psych ward after was stepped down from ICU to HDU and finally to a medical ward, followed by another 16 in a step-down bed in a local nursing home until they could get a care package to support me fully.
My MH problems go back almost 30 years and physical health for almost 15, and the physical health ones alone are enough to drive anyone to that point.
