How tired are you?

I have longstanding issues with tiredness but struggle to know what is normal and what isn't. I frequently fall asleep if sitting quietly (especially if reading) and generally feel tired most of the time, including upon waking. If I rate my tiredness now it's about 7/10 with 10 being the most tired I've ever felt.

So how tired are you?

I’m a chronic insomniac and have been tired since about 2009 Grin I don’t have kids so I can pootle along quite well and I find that the very rare times that I do sleep properly I feel punch drunk when I wake up.

thaegumathteth · 02/11/2018 16:36

Right now about 6/10

I have a b12 deficiency and currently have a UTI and dh is away and the kids are being kids so yeah, tired.

KittyLane1 · 02/11/2018 16:37

Not as tired as DH apparently Hmm

BloodHoundFight · 02/11/2018 16:38

So fucking tired Sad I've been working a solid 70hour week for 3 months now, have two toddlers who hate sleep and am planning a wedding. I would love love love 6 hours of sleep.

midsomermurderess · 02/11/2018 16:39

Tired as in sleep or tired as in enervated? I think I am at around 5/6 in terms of the former. I have recurrent anemia and at the moment find walking to the bus stop/climbing the stairs to my flat horribly challenging. I was thinking today I might seriously have to think about moving to a ground or first floor flat.

MrsJBaptiste · 02/11/2018 16:40

I'm on the go most days - work, sorting the kids out, long gym sessions, etc. but don't really get that tired. I go to bed around 11.30 and wake up between 5.30-6.30 but am only really tired when I'm in bed reading before I go to sleep.

Onebiteofeverything · 02/11/2018 16:42

I’m tired all the time. By mid afternoon I struggle to keep my eyes open and if I sit down I can nod off no problem.

NoWaterOnlyWine · 02/11/2018 16:42

8/10. My brain feels floaty, my eyes are shutting ... but my cramps wake me up again Grin DS is being a pain in the bum and up half the night, work is stressing me out, so even when he does sleep, I can't sleep!

lolaflores · 02/11/2018 17:16

I have bouts of insomnia and last night I threw everything I had in the magic drawer at it...and i was still awake at 4 am. My night was also enhanced by DH coming to bed and snoring from about 2 onwards.
I can't or won't sleep much past 7 and I resist nodding off during the day as I think it will make going to sleep harder later on.
I am menopausal, taking HRT
Add to which I am bipolar and in the middle of a dose of steroids for recurring respiratory issues.
All in all I am an absolute DELIGHT to be around. The manic energy can be helpful but I am hitting a wall with lack of sleep
My skin under my eyes feels tight, I am weepy, irritable and would like to go to bed, shut my eyes and just sleep. Nothing more than that.
Seems a skill I lost somewhere along the way.

Misty9 · 02/11/2018 18:10

I'm not sure what ennervated means... Blush but tired as in physically and mentally exhausted. Speaking and thinking are effortful and it doesn't matter how much sleep I get, it doesn't help. I sleep too easily but also tend to have late nights as value my me time and know I'll be tired the next day no matter what. And I really struggle to wake up. I'm a delight!

Flowers for those having tough times. I'm self employed but no energy to do much work Sad

I am exhausted a lot of the time for no real reason but a friend thinks I may have a thyroid problem due to other symptoms I've mentioned so I need to go and see the GP. I actually think though that motivation is a large part of my problem. If I'm on holiday I am out and about doing things every day. I never have issues then. My adult DCs get worn out long before I do if they're with me! But at home I turn into a sloth. So I think it's the fact that my life is quite mundane a lot of the time, so it's hard to find energy to do stuff.

chillipophey · 02/11/2018 20:45

Always tired cos have two toddlers who rarely sleep through and get up early, but I can't be that tired cos I never go to bed before half ten.

YeOldeTrout · 02/11/2018 20:49

Generally not that tired. About 7/10 right now, I've been awake since 4am. I started feeling tired on commute home, so about 6pm. Really need to organise my ass into bed now (with nice hot water bottle).

Even when very tired, It's very hard for me to fall asleep. Am very jealous of people who can easily drop off simply because they're tired. That must be so nice.

SoyDora · 02/11/2018 20:52

Lifelong insomniac. However exhausted I am I can’t just ‘fall asleep’ and am very envious of those who can! I average 3-5 hours sleep a night. Also 32 weeks pregnant with a 4 year old and a 3 year old (4 year old didn’t sleep through the night until she was 3.5) so have a huge deficit. Oh and my iron levels are really low.
So generally pretty tired. But still can’t sleep.

Misty9 · 02/11/2018 21:46

I can imagine that insomnia is pretty awful - but not being able to stay awake isn't much fun either! I've fallen asleep in many strange situations: clubs, meetings, driving... Shock don't worry it was a while ago and the DVLA were notified. My kids are now used to mummy being tired and needing to rest Sad

I’m about 6/10. Dh is away, it’s half term. I have a 3 and a 6 year old. 3 year old wakes in the night scared of the dark, 6 year old wet the bed the last 2 nights. I’m applying for a job and we’ve just moved countries.
Pretty tired really.
