Heated wheatbag things

Bad idea for children? I often have a hot water bottle in bed if it's cold, ds2 cones in bed with me forvthe second half of the night. But ds1 (3) is in bed on his own, not great at keeping his cover on (I check at 11pm and again around 3 or 4am)

I'm a bit concerned that if it's a colder winter this year, I'll struggle to keep him warm. Oil ch and just me, can't afford to have it on all night.

Thinking a microwaved wheatbag might help? But he's only 3 so not sure if they are suitable.

I think they're more suitable than a hot water bottle where there would be a risk of scalding. I love mine!
You can get soft toys with a wheat bag inner designed especially for children.

I'd be more inclined to get him warm pjs (nice brushed cotton ones) and layer up with a vest and socks. That will keep him warmer. The wheatbag things are quite heavy and could fall out of the bed. It won't stay warm either. Maybe an electric blanket on the bed? One with an all-night setting? They are quite cheap to run.

Have a look for a snuggle safe-it’s a hard plastic disc that you heat in the microwave. No risk of scalding, wipe clean and it stays warm for hours and hours.

They are for pets Blush but it does also mean they are chew-proof!

They're awful in a bed. I got some for the kids and it was money wasted as they just made the bed damp.

I wouldn't use it to try to keep them warm through the night.
As macnab has said, dress him up warmer. Another way to help is to put a second quilt, or blanket sideways across the bed, so it drops down to the floor on both sides of his bed - his quilt is less likely to come off then.
