What would be your choice of colour for a counselling room?

I'm decorating my new therapy room which I shall see my counselling clients in. After decades of working in dull plain white characterless shared offices, I'm thinking of making it really cosy. What colours appeal to you?

I agree with a colour you like, as you'll be in there. Personally, if choose a dark colour like Hague blue or Teal and have areas of light to make it feel cosy and safe.

*I'd choose

I think rich neutrals as a pp suggested, with textured curtains, throws, rugs, and artwork to rest the eye on. The neutral with teal type colour schemes suggested look beautiful but not very relaxing to me.
But, OP, what ideas do you have? It has to be something you are happy with. You'll be spending a lot of time in there.

I’m on a farrow and ball kick just now - inchyra blue, de nimes, sulking room pink or bancha. All quite rich, warm colours. I’m redecorating and I’ve ordered inchyra blue and sulking room pink to try for my living room.

Anything but grey.

sulking room pink is obviously inspired, teamed with nervous breakdown blue and in a bleeding rage red and can't stand anything any more yellow and passive-aggressive grey and narcissist's orange.
Lighthearted contribution! Grin

I would go for a buttery cream colour and lots of plain natural wood. I think that warm but neutral colours are very calming and soothing. Although I love bolder and more interesting colour schemes, I think that something relatively plain and more neutral is more appropriate for a therapy room, where you don't want to impose a particular 'feeling' on clients but rather make a space where they feel safe and able to open up.

Nothing dark. I had significant trauma and I imagine many do, that happened in the dark or relates to dark. I liked light bright airy rooms. My therapist moved into an office before I left that was tiny, but he painted the walls a cream colour, had a huge window in their and the couches were leather. There were candles and pictures too.

Green. There's a reason why theatres have a green room.

I think greens and soft pinks. Fluffy throws and cushions. Lots of plants. Nice chairs.

Green. Very calming.

Not pink, like one counsellor I went to. I was reminded by both surroundings and personality of Dolores Umbridge!
