Swimming goggles, for the love of God

Dd is 11 and on the autistic spectrum (mild). She's always had problems with swimming goggles, putting them on and off, not being tight enough, letting in water etc.

She hasn't swum for a while but at her new secondary school, they go swimming as part of PE lessons. At the first lesson, she couldn't put her goggles on over the swimming cap and was too shy to ask for help so she ended up in beginners' group (for those who don't put their face in the water).

I need to get her some goggles that are comfortable and don't let in water. Any suggestions please?

Have you got a swim shop? We have a fab one and they help fit the goggles first.

That would be great, I don't know if there is one round here. So not a general sports shop?

My DS is 5, no SEN but has "issues" with clothing etc feeling uncomfortable. He wears Aqua Sphere goggles. They are bigger than normal goggles so don't sit in the eye socket like usual, but instead sit well outside the eyes. He absolutely loves them, might be worth a try for you?

Another vote for Aquasphere. They made the difference to my son's confidence in the water.

We got them from Amazon. We also got a similar type that were possibly Arena but were way too sucky tight. The Aquasphere are expensive but good and have lasted years in this case

Decathlon?

The ones I have are these (pictured) but maybe you need bigger ones for an 11yo, not sure?

We have Aquasphere for DS1 and Cressi for DS2 (who has a smaller head). I use Aquasphere Eagles and they are very good. All bought on Amazon.

Think I'd better get adult rather than junior.

My DS was the same a few years ago, wouldn’t wear ‘eye socket’ goggles. He seemed to find them claustrophobic. He’s fine with them now aged 8, but at the time we used a zoggs mask, which looks similar to the ones pictured. Worked miracles, and he’s now happy with ordinary goggles. To be honest they look way more comfortable than the tight sucky ones! They are adjustable though, so your DD can get the desired fit.

I've got the aqua sphere ones for DS and me as they were recommended in his swimming lessons and they're fab. I got the middle sized ones for DS who is a big 4 but he will also wear mine if necessary, which are the adult size.

DH has just bought Aquasphere for DDs (7 and 5) and they are great. Really easy to adjust to size too.
