Good multigenerational UK holiday?

DH and his parents along with our two year old son are hoping to go away Mon-Fri in July 2019 (just before the English school summer hols) while I’m out of the country for work.

MIL has some mobility issues and uses a rolator and needs a grab rail in the shower.

FIL won’t want to drive too far from home (maybe three hours, tops) which is in south Cumbria.

In a dream world there would be an indoor pool for DS 🤞🏽

We looked at Penrith centre parks but £££ (of course!). I’m sure people on here have great suggestions...!

I was going to say centre parts!

Ribby Hall might fit the bill?

Myshinynewname · 31/10/2018 23:06

At that time of year Sherwood Center Parcs might be cheaper as Scottish Schools have broken up and Penrith is their closest Center Parcs. Should be within 3 hours, depending where you are.

We've rented cottages that would meet your remit in Kielder forest - wasn't a big brand but very nice, found online. There's a good independent holiday park near Buxton too and at Ashbourne, indoor pool and chalets/cabins, otherwise Haven is on the Llyn peninsular, food pool, go ape type place and on beach. With centreparcs you are paying for the name remember so it pushes up the price - or rather you are paying to ensure the riffraff are kept out according to my neighbours (we've never bothered, if I'm paying that much I stay in a hotel!)

www.sandybrook.co.uk/ This is the Ashbourne lodge park, a lovely indoor pool. Lots of places close by to visit.

Can you not go a few weeks earlier, June, before Scottish schools break up?

Ricekrispie22 · 01/11/2018 06:49

Rookley Park at Filey Bay in Yorkshire is like a low key Center Parcs with the bonus of being within walking distance of a good sandy beach.
We've also had a brilliant time at Landal Kielder Waterside.

Watching!

Another one echoing the Kielder cabins. In fact I’ve had several good holidays under the Hoseasons “go active” brand (although others were too far away for your requirements) and they have places all over the country.

Thanks for your suggestions! All really helpful :)

Sadly we are tied to that week, so no chance of moving to an earlier date and Ribby Hall is probably a little too close to ourhome to count as a holiday haha :)
