I've found a dodgy looking mole

It's on my back. It's bigger, an odd shape and is scabbed over almost.

It's not good is it? I can't think of any reason why it would have changed apart from the obvious.

I can't get a doctors appointment until the 21st November.

Don't panic (easier said than done, I know).

I had a mole removed which had all the characteristics of a dodgy one... was huge, odd shape, irregular height, different colours. It hadn't always been like that either.

I'd had it checked twice in the past and was told it was ok, an atypical mole but benign. I still wasn't totally reassured. So when I thought it'd changed again, I saw someone privately to have it removed and tested. It was benign.

Moles can change during pregnancy. They can also change through injury to the area. It's not always cancer. Definitely get it looked at but try not to worry.

Always, always, get them checked. If you can't wait until 21st, go to a private clinic, there are quite a few of them around now.

It could also be, but please still get it checked, a warty keratosis. I know this sounds revolting, but both my husband and I have had these large irregular, crusty moles, but they are completely harmless, and can just literally be scrapped of with a scalpel or burnt off with a laser. However, do get it checked to make sure what it is, and what you want done about it. The NHS will not do anything with it if they think it is benign, whereas I always prefer to get them taken off anyway, then you don't have to worry anymore, but you will have to pay for that yourself.

Thank you both. I'm 45 so pregnancy not an issue. I know I should book another on the day appointment. I've just arranged BUPA and life insurance as I've left my job which covered all of that.

I'm sure it's fine. I feel more positive that it can be dodgy but not cancerous.
