Baby banks

Watching the dispatches showing baby banks. Does anyone know how to donate to these, or find a local one as I'd really like to donate clothes, toys and things we have.

My local NCT has one- those in need are referred via Health Visitors, Midwives, GPS etc

gilmoregal · 29/10/2018 20:18

Thank you, I've sent my local NCT a message to ask.

I put a post of Facebook this morning asking the same thing as I have more clothes than I have room for and 200+ unopened nappies. I was told about our local baby bank in Leeds City Centre but they have drop off locations all over, generally at play gyms etc.

As it happens, they don't need any of the stuff I have so SIL who is a family law solicitor is taking them to a women's refuge group who she works with so it's worth contacting your local family law solicitors to see if they do anything similar.

I was also told that food banks are always looking for baby items too.

Thank you, I do donate to a local food bank, particularly at Christmas but periodically too although not recently as broke on mat leave.

I've made a couple of enquiries, not found one where I am as yet ( Wolverhampton) but have found ones within the West Midlands.

This is the production company that made it. At the bottom of the page there’s a map of UK baby banks which is the most complete version that I’ve seen (I’m involved in one, although not featured last night we did participate in the research): truevisiontv.com/babybanks

I thought the TV programme was very good viewing but naturally upsetting.

If I had a spare day in the week and didn't have to work etc. I would gladly go and give my time.

Hi. I'm one of the trustees for Baby Basics UK baby-basics.org.uk

gilmoregal, there's not a Baby Basics in Wolverhampton yet, but we do have one in Oldbury, which isn't too far away.

You can see the locations of our centres at baby-basics.org.uk/other-locations/

If you're wanting to donate to any of our centres, the best way to do so is to contact them directly. Many of our centres have arrangements for donation drop-offs. They'll also be able to update you with what is in need at that point.

We have one near where we love but they are very unwilling to take donations. Everything must be as new apparently. I have loads of really good condition baby stuff like shoes or coats which have loads of wear left in them but are used which they don’t want. I can’t find anywhere else that will take this stuff and give it to families for free.

@kitbarker thank you. This is the one I found in oldbury will contact them directly. I did find them via fb last night.

I don't have time to volunteer but would be able to fairly regularly donate when my son grows out of toys and clothes and would love to know they're going to those who need them.
