I've looked on line, not found anything. It's there anything nationwide that's planed. 2014 we all lit a candle. Is this been planned again this year? I will be lighting one anyway to remember my family members who fought for our country.

There will be the two minutes silence at 11 and the laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph. I have not seen anything else though I will be in Ypres at the time.

Have a look at this link.

There's LOADS happening in my small town! Theatre, talks, walks, displays, art, competitions, children's activities.

FinnJuhl · 29/10/2018 18:56

I don't know where you are, but our town is holding one of the nationally coordinated beacon lighting events with bell ringing in the evening, in addition to the Cenotaph service at 11am.

The 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 Trust are doing a brilliant visual thing with Danny Boyle.
There are details on the NT website

There are many events in my area- it’s another poignant thing that virtually every single part of the country lost people to ithe war.

BestIsWest · 29/10/2018 19:02

Danny Boyle s directing something called Pages of the Sea. If you live coastally there may be one near you.

midsomermurderess · 29/10/2018 20:21

Slightly off topic, but Is the pronunciation changing? I have heard it pronounced arm miss tiss a few times recently.

elQuintoConyo · 29/10/2018 20:24

The Danny Boyle Pages of the Sea is happening in Folkestone. Looks beautiful and poignant. Pity i cannot attend Sad

WhirlwindHugs · 29/10/2018 20:28

There are loads of events on - I would ask your local branch if the Royal British Legion, or your local Council (Parish/Town level)

drinkswineoutofamug · 30/10/2018 07:16

Thank you all, yes I've seen events organised locally to me.
How did I miss them🙄 I'm planning with some family members to go to the Somme next year. We found our great uncle died there November 1917. From what I've discovered about him he was a brave man.
