If you were induced at 39 weeks, please come and talk to me.

I'm being induced at 39 weeks and I suddenly got the heebie jeebies last night that the pressaries wouldn't work and I'd end up on the syntocin drip with an epidural, flat on my back. Total opposite of what I had planned (nice, swift water birth thank you! 😂).

I've got two kids, one was induced at 2 weeks over. It took one pessary and off I went.
Second child was spontaneous labour which was a nice, swift water birth.

So I tend to be late.

If this baby was planning on being late as well then we could be forcing him out 3 weeks early. Which doesn't bode well.

They said they would see what my bishops score was and if it wasn't very high then we can put it off for a few more days.

Did anyone have their bishops score done before the induction? If so, what was it and how did the induction go?

I had the drip and didn't have to be flat on my back. I could stand and wheel it around with me and then I gave birth on all fours

Second baby induced at 38 weeks. One pessary and she was born 4 hours later. Gas and air only. Really good experience!

I was induced (overdue) with my first. It took 2 pessaries.
My next 2 were induced at 39 weeks. Both took 2 pessaries, but labours were shorter.
My 4th was induced at 37 weeks. Again, 2 pessaries but my longest labour (still under 4 hours though!)
Never needed to have drip or my waters broken.

Induced at 39 weeks with dc3. pessary at 3pm, contracting regularly by 4pm, waters broken at 4cm at 9pm dd born 20 mins later (they didnt believe i needed to push, she shot out like a bullet Grin)

I was induced at 39 weeks as my waters broke but I didn't go into labour. I did end up on my back, monitors, stirrups, epidural etc but it was ok, just take the epidural if you get the drip! You'll end up with a lovely baby however the birth goes. Good luck!

This is really encouraging, I'm really glad I posted.

Induced at 39 weeks with my first - it didn't work, and 5 days later was the drip, epidural and eventually a c section. But you know what, although I'd planned to give birth on all fours or in the water it really wasn't bad. All that matter to me was that I felt safe, listened to and in control. Please be reassured even if your worse case scenario happens it might still be ok

Another bad 1st great 2nd induction. 2nd took two days of waiting then on the drip after artificial broken waters and gas and air. All v civilised til a bit of an unseemly scramble onto the bed and she shot out w me on all fours.

2 inductions here, both at 38 plus something (i’m a type 1 diabetic so knew I would be induced from the get go).

DD1 felt like it took ages to get going, between 1st and 2nd pessary I only got to 1cm despite a lot of pain. Had second pessary and a few hours later was transferred to the labour ward and 1 hour after arriving there she was out! ‘Official’ time in labour was 4 hours but I’m really not sure how they came up with that!

Dd2 had the first pessary at about 4pm and again pain ramped up quickly. There were concerns about merconium as her heart was racing so they broke my waters at 2cm. She arrived 75 minutes later.

No idea what a bishops score is but both times they said there were no signs of labour happening on its own anytime soon so I was bracing myself for the worst.

I was induced at 42 weeks with my first and 39 with my second. I had the drip for number 2, but I found the pain very manageable and only needed gas and air.
