Or make them redo it

Tiler wasn’t very happy, cos it was a bigger job that he expected and I think he rushed it.
Boss has been out to inspect and they are going to redo the floor so that it lines up. Don’t think he’s very happy with them cos they didn’t finish it right for the plasterer to do his bit either.

But I’m so annoyed
It’s just another day of disruption, I could scream
I haven’t had a kitchen for 6 weeks!😩

I love the tiles though

That looks like an amateur did it. I'd want them to redo the whole thing as you will never get the floor to line up with the wall tiles if the middle bottom one was cut in half.
What a PITA for you!

notangelinajolie · 29/10/2018 16:28

I would not be happy with that at all. It looks like an amateur has done it. Did you get a proper company in to do it?

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 29/10/2018 17:03

Redo, redo, redo, the whole thing.

I could do better than that without my glasses on, and I'm as blind as the proverbial bat without them. Honestly, can't walk straight down a street without glasses!

The tiles aren't aligned properly and the gap between the wood and tiles, being different widths, would drive me crazy. Also, in the last picture it looks like the tiles aren't properly flush so not a completely flat surface.

I know you haven't had a kitchen for six weeks, but it is worth having it sorted completely now so you don't have to see it every day for the rest of the time you have this kitchen. If you don't get it all put right now you might regret it later and it will be more upheaval having it done again another time. Get it sorted at their expense, otherwise you will have to pay for changes later too.

CarlGrimesMissingEye · 29/10/2018 17:13

It all needs redoing properly. I do all the tiling In Our house and do better than that. I'd expect much more of a professional! What a PITA having to sort it out. Sorry they've left it like that.

saganorenscarandcoat · 29/10/2018 17:17

That needs to be redone. That is shocking.

sixtyeleven · 29/10/2018 17:19

shocker, I could do better! Re-do the lot.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 29/10/2018 17:27

Where are those tiles from, they’re lovely!

And yes glad they’re going to redo.

Maelstrop · 29/10/2018 17:30

Re-do. That would drive me nuts.

CoffeeCoffeeLove · 29/10/2018 17:52

Would you mind letting me know where abouts you live?
My DH is a tiler and I have shown him these pictures. He could come round and inspect it and let you know from an independent source what work needs doing to rectify this. He's a reputable 3rd generation tiler who owns his own company.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 29/10/2018 17:56

Why all the partial tiles along the bottom edge?!

IncomingCannonFire · 29/10/2018 18:04

My eyes! This needs a warning about upsetting content at the top. Piss poor job. It almost looks deliberate. Make them redo at their own cost

Oblomov18 · 29/10/2018 18:13

Goodness, that is really awful.

RatUnholyRolyPoly · 29/10/2018 18:15

I could perhaps grin and bare the first one, but not the second two.

Actually, who am I kidding, they'd be ripping them all out. I made them rip out all the tiles and start again when I was having my bathroom done, and that was for much less than this!

mildshock · 29/10/2018 19:02

Beautiful tiles but awful job!

Also, are they meant to be in some sort of order?

It's really bugging me that there's two of the same tile next to each other on the back wall, centre of the bottom row?

Redcherries · 29/10/2018 19:16

On the third photo there’s a weird small tile, how is redoing the floor going to make that better!

Redcherries · 29/10/2018 19:26

Also, we run a construction company and no way would I be happy with a team leaving a client with that! We got to the third photo and the opinion between us was fucking hell that’s bad. Don’t be fobbed off.

SistersOfHearsey · 29/10/2018 19:45

It all needs coming out, the 2 identical ones and the half tile are really distracting. Awful job.

updownleftrightstart · 29/10/2018 19:51

I could (and have) done better myself and I'm not a particularly good DIYer.
It looks pretty bad.
Love the wood, and the tiles though

youare · 29/10/2018 20:17

Tradesman DH (reputable!!!) thinks it's a shocking job.

Love the tiles though, OP.

SputnikBear · 29/10/2018 20:24

Oh good Lord no, that is atrocious! I would not be paying for that.

Tomboytown · 29/10/2018 20:35

The more I look at it, the more shocked I am at how bad it is.
I just want it over
I’ve just cleaned up after the plasterer. You’d think after me complaining that they might be a bit more careful, but no. Plaster all over the new wooden floor.
It’s a company that does the whole fireplace package. They have great reviews, but tbh I think they have a standard look, most of them have hearth stones, none are tiled.
The boss didn’t quibble. He’s redoing it.

I just don’t know what the tiler was thinking!
