NHS new job and illness help please ?

This is massively outting to anyone who knows me but I need some advice so I'm writing it anyway.
I started a new jobs in the NHS a few months ago. I have a long commute because the hospital I work in is an hour an a half away. Really like the job but the commute was too much so I applied for the same role in a local hospital and got it. Just waiting for recruitment to sort references and stuff out now.

Since starting I seem to have caught one thing after another. I had a sickness bug 4 weeks ago so I was off 1 day through choice and then 2 days forced medical leave due to work policy.
Came down with what I thought was a bad cold last weekend. Went to work Monday but was so ill I came home half day. Have been really rough since. Other than to go to the doctors Tuesday I haven't left the house and spent most of my time in bed/laying on sofa. I feel absolutely awful and no energy at all. Doc said it's flu and a chest infection. The antibiotics he gave for the chest infection don't seem to be working.
I'm supposed to go back to work tomorrow but honestly have no idea how I'm going to cope. I just don't feel well enough.

Anyone know what will happen to my new job if I have more time off? I'm worried that when my new job asks my boss how many days I've had off sick they will take back the job offer and I'll lose my new closer to home job. Also feel terrible about having more time off. Such bad timing to be so ill.
Does anyone work in the NHS recruitment side of things and know how this all works?

What has your sickness been like before the latest job, OP? If you have been working before and have a good track record I wouldn’t worry too much.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.

3 instances of illness in a rolling 12 month period and you go on to stage 1 sickness procedure Hmm. Basically means don’t be sick again for the next 4 months. Then you have another interview and they take you off the sick procedure if you haven’t had any time off. If you have you go to step 2.

At least half my office is on stage 1. Most of us have kids so catch the vomiting bugs etc. Some take a sick day to look after sick kids if they have no carers days left. I wouldn’t worry too much.

Think it’s only an issue if there is a pattern. Like every second Monday or when you’re hungover!
