Should I get rid of Halloween decorations?

So DS is 13 and over Halloween.

If you're dc are 'over it' or if you don't have DC, do you still put up Halloween decorations? Is that a thing?

I live in a flat so it's not like anyone can admire my decorations from outside or anything. Don't get many visitors. Shall I just give them to a young relative and just enjoy decorating at Christmas?

I’ve just given mine to the charity shop. I used to like putting a few bits up but no point now. Instead I have a basket on the table with wooden and metal fruit.

DD2 (14) is very much into Halloween still. And DD1 (17) is too. If you are sure your DS is totally over it though then donate to charity. But you might be buying again in a couple of years!

No DC and no decorations here. We don't put up Christmas decorations, either. But we are boring types Grin!

Well, do you like them?

cakedup · 28/10/2018 17:30

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood no I don't think DS is going to get back into it. He's not trick or treated for the last two years.

hmmwhatatodo I'm not sure? I'm going through a funny transition at the moment with DS turning into a teen, I've just spent the last 13 years liking whatever DS liked!

However, I do know I LOVE Christmas decorations, don't ever imagine giving that up, even when DS has flown the nest.

Think I'll pass them on.

Think there was a bit of sentimental value which is why I was reluctant to let go...but actually my love of clearing out and making space in my home kind of trumps that.

@cakedup if your loca primary holds a Halloween disco, they might appreciate them?

Ours all got chucked when one of the rooms (where we'd stored them) was cleared out not very carefully & they were ruined :( I'm off to hunt for reduced or charity shopped ones at the end of the week.

Thank god no more Halloween decorations (only outside though) or Trick or Treating. DD gave up a couple of years ago, couldn't come soon enough for me.
We always have neighbours round, dog rolls and fireworks every 5th november though, I'm never giving that up or Xmas decs

cakedup · 28/10/2018 19:47

lucysmam that's a great idea. You're in London are you? Happy to donate to your school.

No, miles away! Might be worth asking one local to you though if they might make use of them :)
