Implant removed in August.. trying to conceive

Hey guys!

I had my implant removed in August as me and my partner are planning a family. I never had a period the whole time i had the implant which was just over 2 years. The nurse told me to expect my first period 3 weeks after the removal.. to my surprise I actually had my period 3 weeks later like she said, on the 29th Sept. I started my period today which is exactly 28 days.. is it usual for periods to go straight back to normal like this or am I incredible lucky?

My partner is in the military and back from excercise the 6th Nov till the 10th. So not long at all.. and then he goes away for 6 weeks. I've worked out I should be ovalating from the 3rd-13th.. So fingers crossed I will conceive!

What has been other people's experiences with this? I'm so desperate to fall pregnant this time round..

Xxx

I don't know if it's unusual, but I've known a few Women to get pregnant straight after removal, because they thought the chance of it was so low, it was worth the risk.

In their cases, they were looking to just change contraception.

From stuff I've read online alot of women have said that their periods were all over the place and took ages to get back to normal. I was dreading it before I had the implant removed... I'm just hopi g for the best. X

I suspect if the nurse said it was normal, it is normal. She's a professional, after all.

Looking at numbers of women complaining or worrying about not having regular periods back is going to give you a very skewed number, for the obvious reason that people who are genuinely struggling will likely want to discuss it, whereas few people who are experiencing exactly what they were told would happen, would feel the need to post. Of course, as your partner is in the military you are more worried than most would be, because you have such a limited window.

But my guess is that you'll only ever get a self-selected group posting if you ask about this.

Good luck!

Yeah that's very true. Maybe just worrying for nothing!

Thank you for replying xx

It took me about 7 months to fall pregnant after having the implant removed. X

I had mine removed in June, periods straight back to normal and currently 6 weeks pregnant.

Good luck

It's natural to worry! But remember loads of women will just not post because a month or two here and there won't meant to them what it does to you.

I fell first month after having mine out and my periods went straight back to normal. Unfortunately that first pregnancy was lost quite early on but I conceived about a year later after having regular periods quite easily.

I had the implant taken out in November 2016. Fell pregnant in June 2017 so it did take a while although they say fertility should be back to normal immediately.

Thanks ladies!

Really hoping things go to plan. We found out that he's be in deployed in the new year...

Fingers crossed! X

It's one of those things. I kind of expected it due to family history. There are things you can use to help you conceive like certain lubes are like sperm food lol. It's totally up to you but with such a short window I'd be throwing everything I could at it lol

insertcaffeine · 27/10/2018 23:22

3rd to 13th is ten days. You don't ovulate for ten days?

CookieSwirlC · 27/10/2018 23:22

I had my implant removed after the 3 years was up in the May, had one period a week or so later and was then pregnant by July. That happened twice, with dd2 born just 5 days before her sisters 4th birthday so my fertility was not affected after having it in for three years each time.

Charlie212 · 27/10/2018 23:46

My ovulation day is the 9th according to my period tracker app thingy. Highly fertile the 3rd to 13th apparently. He is away the 9th in the afternoon so hoping to do the deed in the morning. All this planning seems like a military excercise in itself haha.

Thanks all for the positive feed back. I will keep you all posted! Xx
