Photovoltaic Roof Tiles

Hi all,

We bought a brand new house a year ago and it came with these fitted. We've so far not managed to set up an account with an energy provider so that we can send power back to the grid/get some cash back for doing so.

Has anyone else got these roof tiles?
Which energy provider are you with regarding them?
How much money do you get back?!

TIA

I found this online

Feed-in Tariff Payments:
The Feed-in Tariff is split into 2 sets of payments: the Generation Tariff and the Export Tariff. The Generation Tariff allows you to earn money from every kWh of electricity that your solar roof tiles generate, while the Export Tariff pays you for every kWh of electricity produced by your solar roof tiles that you don’t use and give back to the National Grid.
You'll start to receive these payments once your solar roof tiles have been registered for the Feed-in Tariff scheme. They can only be registered if they have been purchased and installed by an MCS accredited supplier. Payments from the Feed-in Tariff are tax-free and last for 20 years.
The table below shows you the current Feed-in Tariff rates for July to September 2018 for residential properties with an EPC rating of D or above that install solar roof tiles:
Quarter
Date Range
Generation Tariff
Export Tariff
Q4 2018
Oct 1st to Dec 31st
3.86p per kWh
5.24p per kWh

You should speak to your current energy supplier and see if they are in the scheme and how you register if they are.

Thank you Red. That's really helpful. I will contact our current provider tomorrow.

You need to speak to the house builder (the installer of the tiles) as they should have provided you with a certificate confirming proper installation and various details which you then forward to your electricity supplier. Accreditation number, power expected, serial numbers of the various bits of equipment etc. Your electricity supplier probably can't do much without you supplying the info from the installer.

Thanks Clerc. We've got all that info and passed it on to British Gas but they've been rubbish. We've since switched to Bulb so will try them.

Good luck! BG SHOULD have sorted it (obviously).
