What do you think this was...?

Last night about 3.30 DD(3) woke up and I went through to settle her. She went back to sleep really quickly but while I was sitting next to her bed I sudden had this sharp pain in my left hand side, a bit like trapped wind. Then I felt clammy, like I was going to be sick. Then my ears started ringing really loudly and I thought I was going to pass out. So I lay down on her floor until it passed, which only took about 5 mins in total. I then went back to bed. Feel fine this morning.

I'm 35, no major health complaints, non smoker, had one glass of wine last night.

Dr Google is no help. Any ideas wise Mumsnetters?

Gallstones!

tumericmasala · 27/10/2018 08:17

Was about to say the same gallstones!

StylishDuck · 27/10/2018 08:22

Eeek. I don't like the sound of that! I'm going to a wedding today. Could do without being ill. I feel absolutely fine this morning, if a little tired but I also have a 9 mo DS who feeds a lot through the night.

Gallstones are on the right hand side of your body, however the pain does sound similar

StylishDuck · 27/10/2018 08:24

Just googled gallstones and it says the pain from them is the RHS of your tummy. Mine was in the LHS.

It could have been a bit of trapped wind as you suggested?
I get it a lot and feel exactly as you described. The first time it happened I thought I would pass out with the pain, it was horrendous.
If it’s just a one off (and hopefully it will be) then put it down to one of those things. If it happens again then it might be worth trying some anti acids (Gaviscon or Rennie’s or similar) or a trip to the doctor just to get it checked out.

I'd be inclined to book a routine GP appointment and get a general health check. It's probably nothing of any great concern, but pain is usually a sign of something amiss and shouldn't be ignored.

CherryPavlova · 27/10/2018 09:53

Trapped wind or cramp.
Pain and standing up,from sleep resulted in lower blood pressure which gave rest of symptoms. Treatment is a valsalver manoever - trying to force breath out through firmly closed mouth and pinched nose.
If continues see your GP but as an occasional event don’t fret and just get on with life.

I'm inclined to agree with you @CherryPavlova. I've had trapped wind before and it was exactly the same pain. The pain was gone by the time I felt clammy/sick/faint as well. And I did leap out of bed pretty quickly when I heard DD shout because I didn't want her to wake the baby. I'll see how I feel over the weekend but hopefully it was a one off and nothing to worry about. The ear ringing was quite scary. It was so loud and I didn't think it was going to stop. I suppose everything seems worse in the middle of the night doesn't it.

Lower blood pressure - before fainting level - causes all those symptoms (ear ringing, nausea, clamminess).
