Out of meds - pharmacy shut

I have pretty severe ADHD and my medication is a controlled drug which means I can only order it exactly when it's due. Busy day today and completely forgot to collect it (if it's even ready, I usually have to push and push for a doctor to sign when I turn up even though they say it should be ready on that day). My fault obviously but - ADHD.

So I'm out of my tablets all weekend - my pharmacy isn't open on the weekends. Been thinking about changing but it's easier to sort out problems as it's attached to the doctors and there are problems every month.

It's not life threatening or anything, but I've got a ton of stuff to do this weekend and I'll struggle without my meds. Plus I'm a pretty new driver so it doesn't come naturally to me yet and I don't really trust myself to maintain attention to drive safely. That might be my anxiety talking but yeah.. I won't drive without them. Also start my new job on Monday, have a pretty hefty drive and obviously my first day at work without my tablets.

I wondered if anybody knew if there was anything I could do? I work in a doctors and I know there isn't really TBH.. it's a green prescription so can't be sent back to the spine or anything. I don't think 111 will help in this situation, or it's a good use of their time? So annoyed at myself..

I would phone 111 anyway, even if they can't issue a prescription they should be able to advise you what to do.

You can call 111 and they'll help you. Or your GP may have an out of hours number on their voicemail.

Ellapaella · 27/10/2018 07:41

Maybe a GP in a walk in centre would issue a prescription if they have access to your GP records?
Try ringing 111 and see what they say.

Agree with calling 111 for guidance. If they can't help source enough medication to last you until the pharmacy opens I would avoid driving

Ive had prescriptions through 111 before. They send the script to the nearest pharmacist of your choice.

Thanks everyone, I phoned them last night and they said I have to go to the hospital and show some ID but they will prescribe, which is such a relief. Thanks for your help

I’m glad you’ve got it sorted Smile 111 are actually surprisingly helpful for prescriptions, they sorted us out with DH’s epilepsy medication via the only open pharmacy in a remote part of Scotland one holiday when the genius managed to leave it at home Grin

PeakTrans · 27/10/2018 16:43

That's great OP

PMSwithacockinmydress · 27/10/2018 16:50

Great that it's sorted. Both me and one of the DC are on controlled drugs, and I really didn't think they'd reissue, so that's really handy to know.
Please, though, don't leave it til the last day to collect a prescription. Make sure you have a buffer of a few days, as there will always be the possibility of not being able to get it.

Glad you got them OP,

I know Im late to the thread - set a reminder on your phone to remind you to order them and pick them up with a day or 2 to play with.
