worth seeing the dr or just ignore it? (shoulder issue)

for the last month I've had a pain in the front of my shoulder, kind of where the end of the clavicle is.

I've assumed its muscle/ligament as it hurts to touch but also when i'm lifting my lower arm, so changing gears in the car or reaching to the keyboard to type.

It mostly went away, but I noticed its still hurting at certain times of the day, and with conscious monitoring I've realised its becoming painful around the same time of day as my sciatica, and then once I've taken my meds (i'm on gabapentin as I have degenerative disk issues in my lumbar spine) it fades and doesn't bother me again.

I now suspect it may be a trapped nerve issue (I've also been experiencing some carpal tunnel symptoms in the hand on the same side)

As the meds i'm already on seem to be helping, is it worth mentioning it to the dr for investigation or am I ok just getting on with it?

I would mention it maybe if I have to go to the doctor for another reason but I wouldn't make an appointment just for it

StillMedusa · 26/10/2018 21:17

I'd mention it.
I have a similar problem.. pain started in my shoulder 6 months ago.. I found I couldn't reach back for my seat belt in the car, or do my bra up. I assumed I'd pulled something and ignored it for a month or so. Then went to the docs who said it sounded like a rotator cuff injury ad gave me exercises and painkillers (I'm also on gabapentin for a different problem)

Now it's nearly November and I have permanent mild-moderate pain and searing pain right to my fingertips (thumb and first finger)with certain movements. Seeing a physio at long last next week. Waiting for an MRI. It's affecting my hobby, and my job (which involves moving and handling children with severe disabilities).

I wish I had nagged the doctors more, and sooner!

Took my searing clavicle pain to my gp a fortnight ago. Turns out it's osteoarthritis. Is the clavicle swollen and sore to touch?

Squidgee · 26/10/2018 23:50

Row, most of the clavicle is sore to be honest, but its worse in the front of the shoulder.

Go to doctors. Shoulder pain can occasionally be referred pain from somewhere/something else so a good idea to get it checked ASAP.

Mines at the front near my neck where the ends of my bones are swollen compared to the other side. I hadn't noticed the swelling, only the pain.
I would definitely get it checked out though.
