Me! I am!
How many of you MNers are going to work on Saturday night and will be turning the clock back an extra hour on Sunday and then working it?

Not me but DH will be.
He's a fireman and as they are allowed to go to bed on night shifts it will only really effect him if they get a big job.

How does this work for your pay? If your working that extra hour do you get paid for it?

MulticolourMophead · 26/10/2018 11:31

you're, not your

Justmuddlingalong · 26/10/2018 11:33

I worked in a care home. We didn't get that extra hour in our wages. We were told we'd make it up when the clocks went forward in spring. I had left by spring. 🙄

littlemissalwaystired · 26/10/2018 11:33

Luckily not working it this year but I've worked it in the past. Soul destroying seeing 1am twice. Don't get paid for that extra hour either! Classic NHS.

MaxPepsi · 26/10/2018 11:36

DH doesn't get paid it, however the shift that loses an hour in the spring don't get their wages docked either.

nornironrock · 26/10/2018 11:47

If you are on minimum wage and the extra hour is worked for no additional pay, I would imagine that you may then have an issue under minimum wage legislation.... I'm not an HR professional, but might be worth looking at....

Reccy2018 · 26/10/2018 11:49

Police officer here - have to make up the hour in spring and work the hour without extra pay in Autumn 🙄

Henryismyfriend · 26/10/2018 12:19

@MulticolourMophead

No, in this job and any other nights job I haven't been paid the extra hour, but also not docked the hour less in spring either. I honestly can't say if it's balanced itself out because I haven't kept track.
In terms of the business paying the wages it obviously will balance out.

@nornironrock
Interesting question, technically on that night you would be working for less than minimum wage. However I think a calculation is done over 17 weeks, with an average being taken, so an hour wouldn't necessarily make that much difference?

@Reccy2018
That's awful! What a shit way to treat people who are risking their lives to protect ours....!

I am working Saturday night. I do get paid for the extra hour though

citiesofbismuth · 26/10/2018 13:53

Yes, I'm doing a night shift Saturday and Sunday night. I don't think I get paid for the extra hour though.
