Nationwide mortgage help!

Hi,

This a question for anyone with a nationwide mortgage or who deals with nationwide...

We're in the completion stage now of buying our house, due to complete in 2 weeks, my question is does nationwide do any more credit checks now before we get the keys?

I'm asking this because my partner spent £250 today on his credit card by accident!! He thought it was his debit card as there both blue with the same pin 😩

Do you think this would cause a issue? I'm just so worried somethings going to go wrong so this doesn't help!

If the bank seen his balance has went up £250 do you think this would cause a issue or am I over worrying as it's not really a lot of money in affordability terms

Thanks!

He has paid it straight back off but as you know that then can take 6 weeks to show on your credit file! 😩

As long as he hasnt defaulted on a payment it shouldnt make any difference at all. I dont know if they do any more credit checks but they are only interested if you can't make payments.

Have you had the mortgage offer? If yes, then no there will be no more credit checks.

@Eminybob yes we've had the mortgage offer, we're so close to the end I'm starting to get panicky! (If that's even a word haha!)

No they won't keep going back to check credit files.

Don’t worry. You’re home and no dry.
There won’t be further checks.

‘Home and dry’ meant to say!!

They might make further checks but using a credit card won't in itself affect your credit file. That's what they're there for!

Your credit file shows your monthly balance and that it has been paid off on time. As long as your balance hasn't been increasing month on month and has been paid off on time, they won't care. The only thing that looks bad about credit cards is if you only ever make the minimum payment or you carry a high balance.

£250 is neither here nor there. It's a large grocery shop, car repairs, household item. Lots of people put all these things on their credit cards and pay off the balance each month. It's the best way to use them.
