I can't cope and I don't know what to do - Mirena and migraines

Posting for traffic and feeling really pathetic Sad

I'm currently getting 2-3 migraines a week, varying in awfulness. They started up as soon as I had my coil fitted back in May. I was prescribed cosine and naproxen and basically told just to give it a few months to settle. It's just getting worse. I bleed daily, have constant heavy cramping and my entire body is tense and aches.

This migraine started last night around five, and I've been sick about six times since. Sleep hasn't helped, neither have lain killers and I've called in sick to work (first time) and it's a really bitchy environment and I know I'm going to be 'faking' or being dramatic. I would go in, the pain is manageable, but I can't stop vomiting.

In my area, you have to be referred to the hospital to have a coil taken out or removed. I booked in to have it taken out four weeks ago, and my appointment isn't until the 20th of November - so I've still got another month of these shit symptoms. I'm on the cancellation list.I just want to cry, actually am crying, because I can't cope like this. I either have a migraine or I'm getting over one, it's constant.

I've managed to get a doctors appointment this afternoon, about the symptoms, because I know they won't take it out for me. I'm wondering if there is anything else I can ask for Sad I can't face four more weeks of this.

Google a private clinic. I bet you could get it out within the day for £100 or something if you can afford that.

I’d be tempted to do it myself

I'll be honest, I removed mine myself (I had a major panic attack about one of the side effects and had to get it out of me). I'm not sure if it was already dislodged or something and the strings were still quite long, it came out far easier than when it went in, no more trouble than a tampon and the symptoms stopped literally within days but it is not recommended as they can get stuck.

SinkGirl · 26/10/2018 10:18

I would definitely have removed it myself. I would have ripped my womb out completely if I could. Unfortunately doctors with speculums and various hooks and sticks couldn’t get it out (almost two hours of trying between the two efforts) so I was stuck with the fucker. Never ever again will I agree to anything that I can’t control myself.

I hope they can get yours out easily OP, glad you’ve found someone.

(I’m not saying anyone should remove their own as there are obviously risks to this - just saying I was so desperate I would have done it if I could!)

@ems137 I've taken sumatriptain while breastfeeding. It's the only triptain you can take and while I haven't myself I have hurd of some women using it while pregnant (Not sure I risk that myself).

BUT the drug molecule is not very well absorbed by the gut. It's why it's the least effective triptain, I found the naisel spray really helpful though.

Eekk! I'm definitely the sort of person that would do more damage if I tried to take it out myself.

Had another horrific migraine yesterday, which led to me putting my shopping in the wrong trolley and having a go at a man who I thought was DH for buying too many pizzas Blush the bloke took it in good humour, but I can't wait for this to be over.

24 hours to go till the bastard thing is out! I may have a party Grin hope it's removal is as easy as can be.

How did it all go Water?

NoWaterOnlyWine · 30/10/2018 18:03

Thank you for remembering me josie Smile

Really well! It came out really easily, and I had some polyps growing over the threads which came away with it Confused instant relief though.

The doctor did a quick internal while I was there as there's some lining or something growing out of my cervix that looks like it may be causing some extra bleeding, so she's recommended I get it cauterised.

I'm now 24 hours migraine free Smile this is the best I've felt in months!

Oh bless you. I felt so much better immediately as well. I'm so pleased Smile

Update.

Is my fanny ever going to stop bleeding? I was REALLY hoping I could hold off on the sensation of wetting myself till old age.

On a plus note, no migraines.
